Posted: OK, here's a new hurdle we've been presented with for public performances; we've got the fire marshall thing down, we've got the liability insurance thing covered, BUT:
We've been contracted to perform at OzzFest here in Dallas; the folks that have contracted us are sponsoring the Camel Pavillion, but are actually a subsidiary of Clear Channel Communications. The venue that is sponsoring OzzFest is House of Blues, Inc. House of Blues, Inc. is trying to require us to not only have insurance for liability, which we have, but insurance on our equipment (poi, staffs, etc.) Insurance brokers laugh their ***s off at the thought of insuring our equipment because the cost of replacement is lower than their deductible. We've tried explaining this to the HOB rep, but something's not making the translation. It looks like we'll miss out on performing at OzzFest just because we can't show insurance that covers the loss of our spinning equipment - grrr!!! Any advice?

Posted: Valid points, Malcolm. Actually, we got it all worked out, and had a wonderful time there. However, it is another learning lesson in our progress as public performers. Had we taken our lighting & sound system, the replacement costs would indeed have been another story. Thanks!
