I rang up the local shell chem depot to see if they had any Shellsol T in stock and was told (by the dopey sounding sales guy who didn't really sound like he knew what he was on about) that shellsol T was being replaced by shellsol TK. Looking at the spec sheets for both these chemicalshttps://www.shellchemicals.com/chemicals/pdf/solvents/hydrocarbon/isoparaffins/asia/SHELLSOL_T.pdfhttps://www.shellchemicals.com/chemicals/pdf/solvents/hydrocarbon/isoparaffins/asia/Shellsol_TK.pdf(https://www.shellchemicals.com/isoparaffins/1,1098,663,00.html) they both seem pretty similar, but I can't say that I really understand much of the specs. Has anyone had any experience with Shellsol TK or can anyone tell from the spec sheets whether they are interchangeable? I'm probably going to call shell again and confirm whether what I am told is true or not. Otherwise I'm thinking of trying some of the alternatives listed in the fire water post but I'm not sure about availability of these chemicals. Any ideas?

I got this from Shell Technical Advice a few weeks ago. Please be advised that Shellsol T is now called Shellsol TK. I haven't used Shellsol TK because I still have a few litres Shellsol T left in the drum, but people were using it on Friday night at Edinburgh Gardens and it seemed similar.

I got the same message from Shell about a year ago when I rang them up to get a copy of the MSDS for Shellsol T. Emailed me back a message saying that Shellsol T was being replace by Shellsol TK, and assured me that it was virtually identical to Shellsol T. They then faxed me two different MSDS's for TK, which were pretty much identical to an old MSDS I had for Shellsol T.So yeah ... nothing to worry about, I have used both and didn't notice even the slightest difference.Ðraevonof Incendiumwww.incendium.org
