either you learn to dance with the basic techniques, OR you move on to more technical tricks - without spending time on body flow and character.

Over a long enough time period it should be possible to flow with the more technical moves though. (I'm changing my tune on this since the airwrap topic in poi moves a few months ago but I'm tending to agree with it more these day.)

Until then the flow will be the white rabit. smile

yep was well offtopic, infact that could be classified as a hijack.

DSS - I reckon with unlimited time, anything is possible, and I agree.

One thing that usually shows in experienced twirlers style is the relaxedness and the effortless grace with which they nail difficult stuff.

ah well, to bring back to topic - somemore techy doubles gear;;

anyone playing with turning thread the needle with doubles?

anyone nailed the btb waistwrap variations?

I'm all about the flow and the dance...

and Josh, no. I am not currently playing around with TTN. hehee. flash fire has a hard time with that sorta stuff. Comes from being self taught and not even seeing another firedancer for the first 4 years of my learning. Picked up some bad habits that seem impossible to break, therefore causing me much grief when trying to learn new, tech stuff. HELP!

the thing that annoys me about that is, that I actually contributed in a major way to Josh choosing to pick up doubles. I think his first doubles burn may have even been with my staves.... But he so very quickly got so much better than me that it grates! Damn you Josh, you talented and gorgeous man.

My first burn on doubles was when we went up to Byron to tape our entry for COL1. Remmeber that?

hehe...

yep - you were the one that convinced me to pick em up. And your encouragement kept me going.

turning - to rotate the perspective of the twirler through 180 degrees. Usually this means swapping from a fwd move to a reverse move.

so in this case, its directly transitioning from front TTN to rvs TTN by rotatiing the action 180 degrees. From one side of your body to the other and changing direction for eg.

I was talking about turning the BTB Waist Wrap TTN - you doing this? Thats Phat!

I can only turn on one side with the BTB WW TTN - one day perhaps I'll get the proper 2-sided version, tis a nice move tho.

hmmm - but its gotta flow! smile

Josh

PS blue, I'm gonna track you down this Summer (our summer) and spend a lot of time with twirly toys asking you to do stuff.

Oh, and also get you to teach me some mad 3-club skillz.

Sorry, what I should have asked was what's a double staff thread the needle? (I've got my own take, but I don't think it's the same as you guys are talking about, as I'm almost certain it couldn't be done btb, but Mr. Blue up there reckons I can do it confused confused)

I'm not very good at using standard terminology... frown. Guess i should read the staff move naming threads... ubbangel

worry not mr mo.
i knnow you jhave the btbww's down, just not sure if you turn them. if you turn them then you have to be threading the needle to get to the other side.

can't wait to see you psi. and you josh-wa.

ooooooh i'm so happy my hand is starting to work again just in time for the season biggrin

got about 6 or 8 different ttn variations, some with contact some without...., and some which translate into hugs reallyreally really nicely whcih i'll work on for glasto...

Hmmm, still not sure what kind of TTN you're all talking about... if it's the one with fingers and stuff Josh was talking about [Old link], then I would be truly amazed to see a btb ww version, and even just a straight btb would impress me biggrin

I can happily turn with the 1 beat btb butterfly ww things (like the one's that come out of halo rolls on (s|b)lack + blue , but I don't think that's what's being talked about. frown confused
