I've had a fabulous week of progress, and I definitely think a lot of it comes from a piece of T'ai Chi wisdom:"The chin [intrinsic strength] should be rooted in the feet, generated from the legs, controlled by the waist, and manifested through the fingers."(from the T'ai Chi Ch'uan Ching)In summary, concentrate on moving from your waist, keep solid contact with the ground and keep your back straight.I've been working hard on this in my T'ai Chi class, so it seemed natural to try and apply it to Poi as well. And boy did it help. Not only did I find that a lot of the swings were more directed and controlled, but as a nice side effect, you end up doing that really nice looking low crouching posture too. Which helps with balance and solidity when you really get into the music.Has anyone else got any pearls of wisdom from something completely non-poi that's translated well to Poi?mikeyB
