Posted:There's a new workshop in town for all acolytes of juggly things, spinny things and other assorted manipulation and trickery.
(and people who play bongos will probably enjoy themselves too)

There's this stuff:
LIVE gramophone-record playing artistes!INDOOR FIRE ROOM!CAFE with coffee, beer, cake AND etcetera.STUFF!THINGS!some more STUFF!DID I MENTION THERE'S INDOOR FIRE?!
FAQ

WHEN IS IT?
Every Friday, 6ish to Midnight

WHERE IS IT?
142 Lea Bridge Road, E5
Its in the back of an old Printshop, nextdoor to a couple of Pubs.

AND HOW DO I GET THERE THEN?
Buses:
55,56,48,38 and 253 all go up Lea Bridge Road
Nearest Train Stations:
Clapton (from Liverpool St) and Hackney Central (from Stratford or Highbury & Islington)

DOES IT COST 3?
Why yes, it does. Well guessed.

IF I STAY IN THE INDOOR FIRE-SPINNING ROOM FOR AGES, HOW MANY TIMES WILL I HAVE TO BLOW MY NOSE BEFORE THE BLACK STUFF STOPS COMING OUT?
Probably 15-20

ANYTHING ELSE I SHOULD KNOW?
There is only one country that begin with the letter O

See you there

I like the "probably" disclaimer next to 15-20......I'm still not right and the fumes are still having strange effects on my vision.

Hey Smalls, that cheeky pixie is still claiming she was just doing ordinary waistwraps on fire. But i saw wierd extra pokey bits and you saw wierd extra pokey bits, so i still maintain there were wierd extra pokey bits and naughty pixie is telling lies.

How late is it worth turning up? Is it still busy at 10 or does it fade out? I've sillily got a later flight this evening so if I do have the energy to attend it won't be until later. Otherwise I'll wait until I'm properly back in London next week.

And I'm already resigned to the fact that I'll never be a good juggler so he can be as good as he wants juggling. Maybe that's why I'm catching and throwing my poi around instead smile

Posted:Hi folks wave

I was reading this post and it just dawned on me that I'll be in London for the weekend in a few weeks time and I'd love to come check out this event.

I'm flying over on Friday evening, the 12th of December, and as far as I'm aware I'm staying somewhere in the vicinity (though I'm not too familiar with this part of London confused ) so I should make it down that evening.

I've only been spinning for 3 months and don't know too many other spinners in Ireland so it would be a real treat to meet some real poi-gods & goddesses and learn a thing or 2.

Hope to see some of you there so biggrin

Posted:Um, is this only for people who have thier own kit, and some idea of what they're doing, or are total newbies who are just interested welcome, too?

I've done a teensy bit of firebreathing, and so far only watched a bit of poi and staff stuff done by people who are themselves rather new to all this. I'm occasioally in London on a Friday night, and it might be fun to turn up even if it's just to watch all you pros at work! I'd be interested in trying out anything that people are willing to show to a complete novice, but I would probably want to bring by boyfriend, too, and he would only be along to watch.

Would we be welcome, or would we just get in the way???

Thanks,
m
