Posted:----------- Spinning@... Update -----------

Dear all

we have moved to a new location.... se here for the new treead

http://www.homeofpoi.com/ubbthreads/show.../o/fpart/1/vc/1

see you at the rag factory..

this is why we have moved...

We had discussions in the pub on Tuesday regarding the use of the market for spinning@spitz and thanks to friends we have a much clearer idea of whats going on:

Unfortunately we are not allowed back into the market for our workshops. It seems that while we have been out the market for the work, there has been a change of management. The new management appears to want to increase the value of the market area (gentrification is the term being used). This has led to many of the existing tenants not being invited to re enter the market, our selves included.

The stgeorges residents association would have had no idea we would not be allowed back in, so although annoying its not their fault. We still have contacts in the market and we dont want to cut out any future possibility of re-entering the market at a later date by kicking up a fuss, especially when there is no chance at all of us using the space in the current climate.

We need to do 2 things 1. Find a temporary place to play ASAP (see top) and 2. Find a permanent new home to help us move forward we need your help. Please think of the people around you, be it your parents, friends, colleagues etc and see if there is anyone who may be able to finds us a new home put the feelers out there.

If you find somewhere that fits our criteria (see below) then please get a contact name, a number or email and if appropriate, have a brief chat with them as a recommendation or personal contact makes a huge difference. If they are interested, forward their details to me and I will then chase it up.

We require an indoor or covered outdoor area with adequate lighting able to house up to 100 people on a Tuesday evening within 10mins from a tube and centrally located. We also require power to run a portable stereo.

On another note we have decided to have a Xmas party to raise some funds to help us secure a new spinning@..... s venue. The confirmed date is Thursday 20th December in a Brixton from about 7.30 pm to 1 am. More details to follow.

Hopefully we will get sorted very soon and in the meantime we will meet at the poet next week and maybe look at ice skating, bowling or something else there after.

Huge hugs

Kev and the guys at spinning@.... s

Posted:hello all. i went to spitz last tuesday and met an incredible contact juggler of those crystal balls. can you help me contact him?

his name is matt. he has red hair long enough for a ponytail. he also carries a long wooden staff made of a tree branch with a crystal ball at the end.

i will go to spitz again this tuesday to find him, but sooner would be better.

appreciate it.

Posted:**if you are trying to figure your way to PLAY FESTIVAL from london**

i know this is a spitz thread, but just in case someone hasn't already told you yet..."come to PLAY!"

http://www.playfestival.co.uk
br>
just wanted to let you know that a few of us just rented a four door wagon that can fit five people with extra space for random bags of tricks.

for four days (august 19-22) we will pay a total of only 84 pounds. this is unlimited mileage with insurance and vat. do the math. it works out to
21 per day. (and if four people are riding the car it works out to be pretty affordable)

if you book now through expedia.co.uk, the rates are still really great with loads of availability.

it's all about the hard cores meeting up to exchange skill once again.

........

looking forward to meeting you all.

COME TO PLAY!

Posted:Hi,

I'm going to be in London for a few days at the start of September so I was thinking of coming along on the 6th (rather than spending the evening on my own in my hstel room). I did find the place on the map but I'm not very good with the scale of stuff.

I'm staying in a youth hostel 100m from St Paul's (on carter lane). Is spitafeild market within walking distance or would I need to get the tube/bus?

Oh and if I do come, I'll be the girl looking very lost and slightly intimidated.

One day i'll learn to resist gravity...

which is a pity, cos the big back room of the 1001 is really nice now.

and spitz is still a big building site. Although there are new rebuilt bits emerging now. And they're rubbish. Shiny concrete and right angles which all smell of corporate non-identity. ick.

enter two monkeys

1st monkey:

Isn't spittalfields poi workshop quite marvellous, being every tuesday from seven until ten in spittalfields market near Liverpool St Station in London, UK?

2nd monkey:

My good sir, I believe you are quite correct.

1st monkey (with feeling):

Why yes. Yes i am.

fireworks, dancing girls, a killer whale leaps from the pool and bites the head off an effigy of the kaiser, curtain.
