Hey everyone, i'll be back in melbourne around the 3rd july...

I never managed to organise my workshops last time i was there but i'm wanting to set them up as soon as i get back.

Just wondering if there'd be enough interest for say 20 spinners, 2 hour class, going as advanced as you like. Probably won't be suitable for total beginners, i won't be teaching weaves/butterflies etc. But just so long as you can spin a few patterns you'll be fine. A lot of the stuff is simple once you know.

I'd be covering topics such as:

box planes & spacial strangeness
pattern modifiers
tangles, perpetual and otherwise
inversions & their relation to tangles, weaves and butterflies
wibbles, dibbles, 2wibbles and so on

Essentially it will be totally badass and i guarantee i'll teach you some crazy stuff you've never done before.

Would be great to do 10 classes over 10 weeks.

I'm looking for a venue and was wondering about using space in the circus school in prahran just of chapel street. Anyone know if that's a good/bad idea or know of any other nice spaces.

I'll be living around prahran / windsor so somewhere near there would be good.

Any takers?

matt

He can spin stuff particularly nicely and knows lots of silliness biggrin

I would be on that workshop if I was in Auz already.

Pete, prices would totally depend on how many people and how much the venue cost.

It would be perfect if i could get say 10 people to commit to say 5 weeks and pay up front. Bu tth echances of that are, well, we'll see...

Hey bender, yeah i'd like to do something a bit more focused than the edinburgh gardens nite. But will definitely get some flyers up there.

Of course it may be better to just do private tuition, then you get 100% of my attention and we can rattle thru everything at a good pace.

You should definitely listen to UCOF, that man knows what he's talking about smile

If anyone in melbourne wants to help set these workshops up then i could teach that person for free, just a thought,

matt

yes the space is a good spot, not the cheapest but definitely close to you. I used to learn Capoeira there.
re: Edinburgh Gardens twirling tuition requests, i meant to say that it's where tuitions are most personally requested, not that the tutorials themselves happen there.

gimme some stuff to do and i can do some limited legwork for ya.
the space might ask for insurance coverage - and my public liability coverage doesn't extend towards workshops, so i can't offer that...
if this is too public, we can discuss this in PM, instead of blowin' kisses in the wind....

Hey kids hugz to ya!
For those enquiring about workshops google fireworks dance company or underbelly dance as they both hold workshops in fitzroy.
To TheWibbler , you could try Abbotsford Convent for somewhere to hold workshops, There is a circus group amongst others using one of the halls for training at the moment, and it's the most amazing aray of creative spaces I've seen in a while! You'll need to google it though I don't have there details onhand. shrug....I feel like a very unhelpful helper, but hope that helps anyhow!!
