ok, this might be hard to explain, but i can stall my right poi, reverse its direction and still keep the left poi spinning in
its original direction, ie i use this method to go from butterfly to weave... or visa versa.
however i cant do this with my left poi. i can stall both poi together(or just left if i only have one poi in my hand), reversing both of thier directions, so its not that the technique is wrong
its just i cant get my left arm to stop without stopping my right arm as well. dose anyone know any exercises i can do to practise this, as i have tried just spinning the poi at my sides and trying to stall the left, but no matter how hard i try both stop

Me train running low on soul coal
They push+pull tactics are driving me loco
They shouldn't do that no no no

Rub your belly clockwise while tapping yourself on the top of your head.

I dunnno, try de-co-ordinate your right arm so you don't have to think about spinning it so you can focus on the left.

its just a mental block. slow everything down as slow as possible. don't concentrate on it looking good. just get the basic stall down.

how's the galway buzz going deepsoulsheep?

gonna have to visit ye up there soon, or visa-versa!

I'm going straight to hell.
Better practice my fire show.

Try it with clubs. Or spoons.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

if you're stalling a butterfly, its easier to do it from ttn, stalling the poi that is closest to your body as it comes down

Yep, just keep on trying! Took me ages to be able to move my hands independently to each other, and I think my left hand will always be the weaker.

Also try doing everyday things like turning keys, picking things up, etc... with your left hand instead of your right.

Why not try spinning with the right hand in the butterfly plane with the left poi held still and dangleing to the left.

Then, whilst focusing mainly on keeping the right one going, throw the left poi over the right arm into the stall position.

Then lift the left hand poi up, and over, the still spinning right hand poi.

Repeat till you can do it solid, then try from a butterfly.

yer i tend to have real problems doing proper stalls with my left hand - I usually just end up smacking it against my right calf - stops it nicely but looks kinda shoddy I used to have the same thing with the left hand of the alternate butterfly - except whenever i did the left on my right hand went nuts for no real reason.

What i've been trying to do is just lean to do left hand stalls so well that i don't need to worry about them. Once i'm not realy thinking about a move too hard the left and right hand seem a bit more inclined to do what there suposed to - not what they wany

thanks dave, dom, cole. i just kinda of did one...

i speeded upm right poi really fast and then just concentrated really hard on my left hand and slowed it down then i could just about stall it with out stopping the right one aswell.
obviously this is cheating and is of no practital use but its a start

I find going solo with the left hand lets you fully concentrate on it, practice the stall until its sweet just using the left poi, it still can take abit of time but i reckon it'll you'll be surprised how quickly it comes. my left hand is always the last to know anything so whenever i'm learning a new move and the left is getting all mixed up i just get rid of the right poi for 5 or 10 mintues and the move comes almost naturally
