I was experimenting the other day and came up with a few methods of getting out of a DCAS (downward conical airwrap spider)

I have two of the variations integated into my last two videos.

the butterfly exit is here at 2:33

https://www.flamingsphere.homestead.com/files/childrenatplayfinalversion.wmv

and the corkscrew exit is here at the begining 0:18 here

https://www.flamingsphere.homestead.com/files/daylightsilence.wmv

there is another exit involving a one handed corkscrew which I have no filmed yet.

here are some tips to succesfull completion:

1: The number of beats of wrap.

2: VS the speed of spin.

3: catch it over your head, in front is a lot harder. (not sure about fire though)

4: wrap it very close to the handles, because if there is a lot of chain on the handle side it will make the seperation timing less consistent.

(use more wrap beats if you are spinning faster, as the outward tug will be greater, hence they will unwrap faster)

I'm sure you would have gotten all this anyways, but just to be on the safe side....

do you have an age warning sticker for that video.
I reckon its a parental guidance, or maybe over 21 only - rated.

Im no keen on the throw in the title, not my style.
but I like some of the other poi throws that are a bit more clean.
Always good to see peeps unself-consiously creating exploring and playing.

never said my "DCAS" throws and catches were clean... yet....

but, I felt it was important to share a newly discovered (by me) move. Its about sharing.... maybe someone else can use it and add to it, thus expanding our horizons.

OK, +) just for you I'll do a texted based descrption. Take a corkscrew out in front of you and grab both poi handles in one hand. Then let the poi twist together for about 5 beats (maybe more maybe less) and then throw them by the handles up into the air. As they spin in the air (horisontal plane) they will start to unravle. whne they come back down you grab them.

#1 one handed corkscrew: grab them in teh middle by the twisted together part. continue on with the original motion but with only one hand (but holding it like a meteor now).

#2 catch over your head with both hands (one hand on each side of the tangle) pull them apart and start to spin them individually again (flows into a weave easily).

#3 catch with one hand in the exact center (make a fist over the tangle) but give it a jerk as it comes down so the poi begin to do a reverse butterfly. after a few beats grab one poi with the other hand and start a reverse two handed butterfly.

OMG, Dan. You had me during the gut rolling interlude.

Let's turn those old bridges we crossed into ashes.
We'll blaze a new trail,
and torch the rough patches.
