After a year of not really doing any poi ive decided to start again. After i saw saw this video i decided i just have to learn wraps. I love the bounciness of those well executed wraps. Other than those crasy wraps, what else is new in the world of poi, specifically glowstringing-type poi.

alright, at first I was like, cool, not bad. Than the btb weave wraps came into played followed by all those other crazy things. nice stuff I feel inspired.

That'd be the best bit of wrapping I've seen.

I was watching the compilation video and theres this one move i cant figure out. Its about 1:12 into the movie, and it goes really fast. Looks like an air wrap maybe. Can anyone tell me what it is and/or how its done?

Okay. I'm curious. How do they do that wrap that makes the poi circle get smaller really fast?

okay, i haven't seen the video cause i'm on holiday away from my lovely broadband . But in responce to a wrap to shorten chains that can be done quickly, whilst doing the butterfly, when the chains are about to reach the top, open your hands and let the chains wrap around till they reach the top again, at which point clasp your hand again. You can do it so fast no one notices and from this you can easily go into buzzsaw and other moves which require short chains. Lengthening the chains again is simply a matter of unclasping your hands and giving them a quick flick to knock the chain off your hands again. The same principle applis for weave moves, i generally find it easiest to shorten them in reverse weaves.

that was cool thought the same thing it was ok but then i saw stuff that i have never seen b4 and glow sticks are ****ing hard to NOT get tangled up.

I liked the btb Hannibal lecter wrap and the one when it wrapped round the hands about three times and bounced out again and the whole wrapping round two bit of the body at the same time one the neck and a leg or and shoulder and an arm it was cool.

ah btb corkscrew, been hitting myself learning that this evening. BTB butterfly weave is another potentially painful thing i'm working on at the mo.

'smack my duck' reminds me of something amusing that happened to me a few years ago actually

Hmm anyone know what codec/player you need to view those clips? Windows Media doesn't seem to like it on my machine.

Dantana,

I agree with the wraps. Those are freaking amazing, and I'm going to learn how to do that totally.

now i understand what glowsticks are for

myron is unbeliveable. i'd have no chance keeping track of all those direction changes!
1:05 - wicked btb airwrap.

2:31 - WTF?!!??!
can *anyone* explain that wrap?

seems these boys have the right attitude too:
"no crew, no battles... we are just some friends who like to hang out and do what we like to do"

sound like some people i know...

[edit: just watched will's video - love the cheeky grab stuff @ 1:39, 1:48 and 2:39. 2:17 he does my new move (6 months ago damn it ) and then shows how to do the crazy move i questioned above. bth airwrap at the end too. lovely. ]
