Throughout the world of poi there walk a breed aside from other moves. Many have claimed that they don’t exist, or that they did, but that they died out with some long lost tribe of poi masters, and now they are “just legends”. But, they exist, and not just in the fairy tales we tell young poisters and poiettes to make then scared of the bogie poi that live under their beds.

The Jedi set are the most technical of the most technical moves.
The Jedi set are the poi swinging moves which defy the known laws of the physical world.
For everyone of them, at the moment only a handful are known, is utterly a Jedi move.

Until recently the easiest known move in the the jedi set was a 5 beat weave to reverse 5 beat weave behind the back, preferably done in the wall plane. And yet some exciting new discoveries uncovered using the latest state of the are technology in archeopoilogy. New additions have been threatening to join the ranks of the Jedi set, The Eight Council of Poi demi-gods are currently in congress to determine the place if any of these exciting new finds which include 2 air wraps within the Jedi set.

Not everything is known of the origins of the Jedi set. But it is much hinted in pagan folklaw, that in days of old back in martober two mysterious men, possibly of a tribe of orangeness denoted by their attire met in a misty field in Clay-pham a small village near Londinium. And lo, One of them who may have been the legendary Jedi Tony Touch spaketh unto the other, (the ugly stupid one with poor personal hygiene) who is, it is rumoured to be a distant forefather of the author. (alas the lineage has never been proven).

“That move is utterly Jedi.”

And to the sounds of trumpets from between the legs of a chorus of angels, the Jedi set was gently placed by a large crane amongst the meeting of poiers.
And the quest began...

That was many moons ago, and little remains to document what happened in that original quest...

ahem..."new" ...... yeah, i know you know but i couldn't resist

why isn't anyone else posting moves? good question. i dunno. makes me wonder. there's hundreds and hundreds of hyperloops, so why aren't they pouring in? is this a playground, or a stage?

and i think i may have figured out what you're talking about, santana, with the corkscrew bfly hyperloop, despite all odds stacked against me(years of constant drug abuse, and your vague-a$$ description ) i believe it is essentially the backwards version of what happens when you do an odd # of beats in the "maxi plus" (i say we keep that name, i'm a sicko with a feminine products fetish). am i right? thanks, dood, that was on my WAY TOO HUGE list of "hyperloops to figure out"

I don't know man, I video taped my hyperloops, and the butterfly/corkscrew one looks realy confusing on tape, it would probly be better to just leave it to your imagination to figure it out (or raw luck and practice, which is how I got it)

I've been sick the last few days, so I haven't been able to put the stuff on computer yet, I'll get it done as soon as I get back to work.

whhoo , I aint been here for a while.

Hey arashi, Maybe thinking about your teaching move thread is why we ain't posting. That replies coming to ya soon man, I aint forgotten ya, just taking a break from thinking.

Game time: hyperloop can be 2 or 3 (fast=tangled)beats.

Airwraps = 2 (tangled)beats

I'm playing a bit with tangled buzzsaws in airwraps, 4/6 beats. (similar to what santana2 call inside hyperloop) like the maxi plus, but I should have waited and I would have figured doh, cos going into/out that thing as an airwrap is about 100000000 times easier than going in and out as a hyperloop. I've spent about 6 month trying to get them as hypers and about 6 minures as airwraps.
Anyway. mostly I'm juggling at the moment Colemans your man for these, hes got them way more solid than me,

well, speaking of Jedi, "you can kiss your worries of those imperial slugs good bye, I told you I'd loose them."

And I just so happen to have just posted some new videos on my web site. Specificaly the dreaded HYPERLOOPS!!! yay!

I have a 1.5 minute video of hyperloops (all the ones I can do right now).

the link for the profilialy illiterate is www.flamingsphere.homestead.com

and for the even lazier people , you can click here https://www.flamingsphere.homestead.com/divxencoded.html

you will need DivX to view them. www.divx.com

Special thanks to PK, because I used your compresion setting from PK01 video. works like a charm, shrunk those files WAY down, yet retained awsome visual and sound quality.

I hope the video helps teach this new breed of moves. As I am looking forward to seeing people develope even more variations (and sharing them )

I will start a new thread on my knowledge of digital movie internet technology. I have suffered through HELL to obtain the knowledge I have (which is far from comprehensive) but there is no need for everybody to go through the same hell I have already gone through. That is why man invented language. Better yet, I am also going to put a treatis on the subject on my web site. so, no more about it here, huh? this is the jedi thread, not the "internet movie head exploder" thread. And I am going to sleep now, so I will have to start it tommorow, ok? can you wait till then?

I got a new one. It is a reverse butterfly thread the needle isolation (continuouse) and you can work it upwards to give the impresion of a water fountain.

You know, I can picture this, and almost do it at the moment... just need to get the isolation smooth

BTW, lovely video! Now all I need to do is work out how to get into all those moves and I'm sorted, lol

its probably done before, but anyway... this is my hyperloop offering

starting with basic swing, that is; parallel, in same time, and going forward. I swing them to the inside of my arm, but as I do that I speed up the right hand poi so that it catches up with the left hand poi, and I let them wrap at the heads.
basically, the right hand poi wraps around the left hand poi

now they are connected, and I let them swing together in the same direction and they unwrap after two to three beats.

Is it 'new' -ish???

do you keep them inside the whole time, or do they exit and then unwrap? And which side is the hyperloop started on?

they are basically in the buzzsaw position, on the inside of you arm. But in buzzsaw, they are in split time, with this they are almost in synch.
One is going slightly faster than the other, and at a slight angle to eachother their heads cross. They are connected from the inside ( between your hands) but their momentum keeps them swinging around in a circle. after a few revs they unwrap naturally.

Do you remember your very first days of swinging and you used to do the basic cross, or x swing in front of you, but you didn't know how to do it right, and they'd connect and head straight for your nuts. This is what i'm doing but on the inside of my arms. My poi's are short, so with my arms outstretched, they keep going round in circles until they unwrap. Oh, for a digital camera and a compoooter.

I'm going straight to hell.
Better practice my fire show.

if you slow that move down and play with the timing more you can get that down to a one beat, bra. in bfly and ttn. pause the wicks on the first 1/2 beat of the wrap, and voila.

WOW!!! arashi, you were right, I was doing an extra beat on my butterfly hyperloop. I was playing with it last night (my poi hyperloops, you sickoes) and I did a quick butterfly hyperloop, but for some reason I only did half the beats, and it still worked. very wierd. I don't understand it yet, but it works....

I made my troop promise not to give away this secreat move that I developed....but I now realize that if I don't tell you guys, I may well forget about it, and it would be lost forever....I was saving it for COL4, but I want to post it so I don't forget about it again.

It is called a "Weave The Needle" For obviouse reasons. It uses the same hand motion as a TTN except one of the poi is doing the same direction of circle. It must be done from a same time spin. and both poi are held on the same side of the body. So, it is a TTN, except from a weave. You keep the poi on one side of your body the whole time. I know what you are thinking... "that's imposible" jedi white said the same thing when I told him what I was about to try. but it is possible. Remmeber, the hands do exactly what they do in a normal TTN. the only difference is one poi is going the opposite from what it would do in a TTN. try it an see...

Isn't that a parallel weave? You can do it forwards, backwards and either left- or right-handed, turn whilst doing it from forwards to backwards, and swap arm as well.

You can also go into it from a five-beat quite nicely as well, especially if you use a wrap

WHAT? someone else has already thought of it?!?!?! that is most distressing...are you sure we are talking about the same thing? There I was thinking I had come up with a new move. I guess I should have known better.

I guess I'll have to make a video of it just to be sure we are talking about the same thing.

I'm not entirely sure we are either I'm learning parallel weave stuff now and tend to do it with one arm straight out and the other one looping over and under it in a weave motion... so I'm not sure whether this translates to what you're talking about if I unstraigten my arm.

I'll have to try it when I get home and see... but a video is always cool

Got home, had a quick spin... I think we are talking about the same move, except that I'm doing it with one arm extended. You can do it swapping which arm is extended, which I think is equivalent to what you're doing. It's definitely a 3-beat parallel weave though

something important to note. I am doing it continuousely on one side of my body. I am not doing it in reverse or turning with it, or bringing it to different sides of my body (as in a weave) so maybe I should name it differently. I only said "weave" because it is not butterfly.. I hold it in front of me, I see the circles going clockwise, in front of me (wall plane). It only works if you either A:bend the left elbow so the poi doesn't hit it. Or B: do it low in front, and let the (right poi head) pass close to your underarm. You must do something like this, otherwise the poi will just wrap on your arm. If you try to do this move in split time, you end up with a hyperloop or an arm wrap.

Some other names I came up with are

thread the weave
weave the thread
weave the needle

a "thread the needle weave" is already taken by another move.

I must take the word "weave" out huh?

how about

same circle needle
thread same circle
wall plane forward needle
sewing the needle

I suck at this naming bull SH@T

HELP SOMEBODY!!! ok ok ok, I will post a video a new thread (insert link for thread here) as soon as I get it online

I like "sewing the needle" the best.

no, that's not it. The poi don't weave, that is, they don't go from one side of tmy body to the other. I know this is difficult to describe....

you know how a butterfly stays on one side of you?

well, do a ttn (butterfly version) next, imagine you recoil on poi and keep doing the same hand motions as the TTN.

:goes home to record on video:

you'll see

I know about the "parrallel weaves" now, but this is something different, because it isn't a weave.

it is a "sew the needle" ....(I think)

I think I know what you are talkinga about, only I do it in a 5-beat weave (so it goes from one side to the other). Nope, wait I'm talking about something else. Perhaps a "sliding weave"?

If this is what I think it is you can also do it split time (using the bend elbow technique). Throw it into the middle of a weave to make the weave appear to be a couple beats longer Get that video up soon k?
