Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

well, i got a sorta not-proper-5-beatish-5-beat-fountain-like-thingy. and i can almost do a 6 beat weave. and i got one side of a hyperloopy airwrappy thing. not sure which. uhh, and i've tried 'dancing' a bit more with my poi. that hurts, not only when you stuff up, but the next day, too.

hmmm, is this what I hope it is? I logged on today to find out the name for what I just got down:
5 beat (fwd) weave fountain into 5 beat (rvs) weave fountain into 5 beat (fwd) weave, etc. etc.
so what is the "official" name for it then? ( a fountain is 6(?) beats, so be it a "10 beat fountain" or only 8 ? )

yeah I'd go with the 5bt as each individual move is 5bts. I can keep the poi weaving in one place and constantly turn my body but it doesn't make it infinate beats....or does it?! eek umm

does a 5bt fountain have a 4bt windmill on top, or do you throw in an extra beat on the windmill, and if so, where?

there is no windmill in a fountain.

so the answer to your question is 'no'.

a fountain with all the extra wrist twists does have 4bts infront of your face as the poi come from behind your left shoulder - since your wrists are twisted they need need to unwrap and wrap up again before they go behind your right shoulder. smile

Yay i just had a learning spurt biggrin I final got the hang of the wrapped butterfly without walking round in circles.

Plus i got the hang of just doing a reverse buzzsaw hyperloop.

Then i also learnt the 5bt revere weave and the 4bt windmill to top it all.

Not bad for one night. I dont like the way these spurts are spaced weeks apart tho. Anyone else experience this phenamina?

I GOT THE 5BT!!!! OH SWEET MOTHER OF CHRIST I FINALLY GOT IT!!!!!

After literally 4 months of trying I finally have it. I could almost cry with the sheer joy of it all. It's not perfect yet, but I can do it after a little trying. It's great. Thanks to everyone for their great advice, and also to Malcom for his wicked new animation which helped loads.

Oh and I finally bothered to learn TTN. Why not, eh? It's been a good day biggrin Thanks to the randomer who taught it me, hope you find your bike mate frown And that you get the 5bt yourself!

What a wonderful miracle if only we could look through each other's eyes for an instant.

increasingly complicated sets of carries- basicly do a waistwrap, but carry back the other way, then carry again, and see how far long a chain of carries you can do. about 4, at the moment, before getting confused. some are *sweet*. and all of them drop into waistwraps whenever you want...
