Posted:finally got the straight jacket entry from both sides: right side and left side inversion entry.

Posted:Hmm... 6bt weave (with a very small wrap in the end, got to try to go further)...
Also, same direction (Forward or backward) going TTN move. It's doin roughly two beats now because otherwise it's difficult to get the timing right...
Finnaly got isolated Buzzaw down properly... I don't know why people say this is the easiest move to isolate... Phew....
And alot of stuff that just has to do with turning and linking moves together =))

*edit* got into the straight jacket but finding it hard to get it spinning.
sure i will figure it out
with a hell of a lot of hig movement.

Posted:In the past couple of weeks I have finally learnt to do the reverse weave properly, plus high and low turns.
Shaky but coming along - basic overhead wallplanes, chasing the sun.

Yeah... don't know about on any of the videos on this site, but there's a bit on COL4 where 2 girls stand back to back and alternately do a btb buzzsaw while the other leans back with a buzzsaw over their head. With fire poi. It's pretty cool.
But to bring it all back on topic, tonight I sorted out reverse 5bt weave and got a bit of a fountain going... Worked on btb 3bt weave as well and tried some variations but they still need ironing out to make them look any good

Hey, it's all good! The thread's for spinners of all levels not just for people who are really good... Everyone started out somewhere, and if people post regularly it's cool seeing them progress

Posted:Thanks very much K! I'm hoping to commission some tights this week to make some sock poi. I'll be able practice indoors easier, it should be cheaper than replacing the lounge light bulbs every week!

I've also worked out inverted weaves.
And butterfly reels in straightjackets, and a funky weave/reel also crossed.
They're pretty cool.

This week, I have mostly been learning: low wave, some reverse butterfly moves including double backbeats, horizontal weave and a very basic buzzsaw.
Now I need to work out how to shorten and lengthen my chains without stopping.
How does an isolated crosser work, Rovo? I've been playing with crossers a bit lately and incorporating them into my weaves.

Posted:I mastered the 3 beat weave last night, it was becoming a bit of a pain in the bum, as it was the one big sticking point in my progress. I took up poi about 2 months ago and I have been practicing like I'm possessed. I spent the last month doing it perfectly one hand at a time and just falling apart when I tried to put it together. I eventually cracked it by practicing crosses and a "2 beat" then throwing in an extra beat.
Oh and I've also recently worked out compound circles, they need a bit of tidying up - see icon

Posted:Just the other day, I wanted inspiraton so I sat down to watch through Nicks Poi Video... Whilist watching I saw that girl doing a behind the back weave... And I suddenly understood how it should be done. Then the next day I did my first btb 3bt and even 4bt, altho not clean yet so I still hit myself alot.
Thats a grand step for me since I've been doing poi for quite some time but never dared delve into btb stuff before... or really thought I needed somebody to show me how it's done... since I have not been able to figure it out within the time of roughly one year...

I just watched it through last week, then went out and randomly started doing all kinds of things (mostly messing with the planes, crosses etc) that I previously wouldn't have thought of, or would have smacked my nose trying - it was like something unlocked in my brain!

Posted:seperated butterfly, moving up and down with pirouettes. i.e low seperated butterfly to high seperated butterfly/ turn 180 degrees/ high sbf to low sbf/turn 180 degrees/ rinse and repeat. The high low movement is sort of like a stall that goes between your arms
I can get through about 3 360 degree turns before I lose my planes and end up in windmill!

Posted:I got inverted butterfly barrel rolls, some weird 5 beat inverted weaves, perfect 5 beat butterfly weave, an inverted buzzsaw hyperloop, and started work on the antispin weave.
