This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

wowzer!

hyperloops, microthrow weaves, 9 and 11 beats... you have conquered physics, people.
all the moves you guys have recently figured out are pretty incredible! the technical stuff is brilliant to watch, though tough to figure out exactly what's going on with each poi.

I'm bathing in my own sense of achievement at the moment as well - today has seen me crack isolations, figure out how to add them comfortably into a five-beat fountain, and sort out some flowers as well. big day huh? remember back when you learnt those moves?

not so bad for someone who only picked the daft spinny things up three and a half weeks ago...

love and wow newbie admiration to all of you,

Ben

4 new whip catches, just in time for falmouth.

1st is a one handed bf throw into whip catch
2nd is a 3bt arm propellor into whip catch
3rd is a pretty simple ttn whip catch
4th is difficult to explain its pretty similar to 3 but with the throw poi going in the other direction, sort of like a weave whip catch but from a bf.

Also learnt something that im gonna call 'weird hyperloop throw, back of hand contact catch and reverse' move. The name kind of gives it away.

A few other little bits, nice smooth contact moves, like a lubbly way of getting out of a hyperloop throw with a back hand catch.

Aim high and you'll know your limits, aim low and you'll never know how high you could have climbed.

Also got the reverse 5-beat, only I learned the foward 5-beat like forever ago. In the foward your hand flops. In the reverse you need to fling. I can flop a lot, I can't fling very well. Also got that nifty spiral handcuff wrap with the glowsticks. Very fun, easy, and looks so cool. I'll have a pic up soon.

Don't mind me, just passing through.

Double butterfly elbow wraps on the same elbow, requires some very clean planes. Various mid-weave/mid-BF weave stalls, still need to work on getting them with my left hand though.

Uh, yeah, so. Never mind me, I'll just be the corner swinging around the poi...... redface

wooooo-hooooo!! isolated buzzsaw! finally! have been isolating the forwards weave and both over and underhand ttn for a while now, but the buzzsaw was so elusive for some reason. yay!

Aimee: what is the yin yang? i mean, i know what it is, but as a poi move, what is it?

taken out of context i must seem so strange

YEY!

Finally had a major breakthru today, got the 5 beat weave.

I've also found a way to move smoothly into a horizontal pirouette by doing a corkscrew, horizontal pirouette, back into a corkscrew and then the windmill, been trying to work that one out for a while!

sooooooo many from the weekend I can barely remember them all!! So I'll try a few and come back

very wierd and very cool thru wraps (thanks Vance)

And most burning in my memory, me & Rossco Bossco managed two man versions of hyperloops, butterfloops, passing and even double neck wraps! biggrin

Propellor catches totally nailed (including being thrown by someone else) and propellor throws into propellor catches almost sorted too.
(oh and I broke my propellor record with 72 smile )

More importantly, I have soo much running though my head now that I'll be spending the next month purely on variations I reckon!
