This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

Ok, two today + transition.

1] Orbital around the head

Basic move: Weave (L->R side)

Wheel plane, as soon as you enter weave hyperloop in

buzzsaw you move it in the way of spin around the head,

back to buzzsaw and continue.

variant: Move it around the head clockwise.

2] 202 Throwing

Basic move: Thread the Needle (BW TTN)

It's cyclic move.

L: Catch and throw underneath right forearm (2B)

R: Pass to left hand (1B)

R: Catch and throw underneath left forearm (2B)

L: Pass to right hand (1B)

** Wheel plane transition (thanks Blue)

BW TTN > Reel(L->R) -> BW TTN -> Reel(R->L) -> BW TTN

Reel [(site)cross-over -> (site)cross-over]

enjoy it,

:R

lots of though the legs stuff, mainly reels and spinning round in circles, nearly got the weave crosser with one hand crossed behind your back and the other hand spinning between you legs from the front... trying various tangles between my legs and throughs that come out from under youre legs and go over youre head..... but they seem to be fairly unpredicatble. finally got behind the back waistwraps the other way...

I would appreciate some clarification on a move.

I think it is either 1.antispin weave, 2.inside weave, 3 inverted weave.

This move can be done asymmetrically as a 2 bt weave or symmetrically as a 3 bt weave.

2 Beat Version

Your right hand spins fwd constantly in the buzzsaw plane. Your left hand spins fwd in split time alternating from your left to right side planes but crosses UNDER your right arm. Crossing OVER feels basically like a 2 bt weave. Crossing UNDER feels like a Thread The Needle in the side plane (instead of the wall plane TTN)

Try keeping the left hand in the buzzsaw plane while the right hand weaves UNDER the left. If you can do both dominances strongly then you can do a 3 beat version (and most likely higher bts)

The trick is to focus on the poi that stays on the inside plane. Also, don't try this unless you feel comfortable with a wall plane split time TTN.

This can be done in reverse, same time, and isolated. The BF weave version of this move looks sick! Just watch out for tangles.

Was in Cornwall last week, practised with my scary home-made golf ball poi, managed to get alternate butterfly, mexican wave and behind the back butterfly. Yay! It's a start right? biggrin

Yay! I still can't do BTB weave for crap (shoulders/collarbone do not like that move), but I just learned waist wrap on one side (left arm wrapping behind the back to swing in front on the right side). I think I'll be able to do WW on both sides in just a bit, just ran out of time on my break frown.. fun stuff tho! Smacked my face good a few times (to the amusement of coworkers) :P.

finally... and I mean FINALLY got 3 beat weave! I have been trying for ages. Damien was trying to teach me on Friday or Saturday night, but I couldn't get it, and then I tried last night and apparently I have it... I now know why I was having so much trouble though. *will stop being crazily excited now*

Shower

Basic move: Weave (wall plane)

Basicly there are three parts.

a) Throw - One hand is continuously passing
Poi wall plane for one turn (2B),accross to the
other hand.

b) Catch - Other hand catch the Poi and make one
circle before

c) it give's it to the other hand that throw it again after
one cicle.

If this doesnt make sense, teel me, the timing is
important here. Two ball shower can help.

i usually do a sloppy transition
while doing a butterfly i let the sock wrap until the right length and seperate and force the poi to do circles between my hands. It's not pretty. you can wrap from your side circles too. if you can do a backbend too more power to you. just be creative about your transitions. i start off in a buzzsaw sometimes and then see how to come out of it smoothly and do that backwards...but i'm not that cooridinated...i'm sure other people have better suggestions redface biggrin

I've only recently joined up, so I haven't posted in this thread yet, but the list of things I can do is:

3bt forward weave
5bt forward weave
btb 3bt forward weave (The newest move I've learnt. Can transition in from btb backward weave, but can't get out again heh)
3bt backward weave
btb 3bt backward weave
butterfly and a bunch of variations
thread the needle

I think that's it.
