This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

At Play I learned BTB reverse weave to BTB forwards weave. Yeah baby!! 5 bt corkscrew, 3bt isolated weave, putting isolations in a 5 bt weave, shaky antispin flowers and some basic wraps, stalls and an airwrap. Yipee! And although it's not techically a poi move, how to sound engineer a 9 piece ska band. Woohoo! bounce2

What's a BTB crossover weave? Is it a crosser weave (huggie) but BTB? I don't think my arms bend that way biggrin

I finally got a clean antispin weave and an almost clean antispin long arm weave (thanks Imbalance). Also getting close to a clean antispin flower. It's weird how all of a sudden the antispin stuff just started to click.

Landed a few new butterfly air wraps last night and a same time butterfly inversion.

Thats right. Its a huggie (cross over weave) but behind the back. You really need to bend your arms and now I almost got the turn to reverse crossover weave BTB :P

What is a longarm antispin weave? I got the antispinchase 100% now and the turn to reverse antispin weave. Damn everythjing is just flowing when the sun is shining biggrin

Keep on the good spinning!

Imbalance describes the long arm antispin weave in the "antispin weaves?" thread. It takes quite a bit of isolation to make it clean but with full antispin it looks very nice.

I've not been on for a while so here's some of my nice new thingys... Isolated antispin flowers, antispin weaves (finally), some fun contact stuff I've not got a name for yet and hyper fountains (hyperloop, airwrap, reverse hyperloop, airwrap).

Have faith in what you can do and respect for what you can't

Butterfly weave! Thanks to Yakumo above me there... Still a bit sketchy. BTB reverse weave to BTB forwards weave. Nice!

recently added to the list:

double bicep wraps (wall plane split time weave style)
long arm antispin weave (see antispin weave thread)
finaly clean hyperloops both ways, and outside-outside forward hyperloops
up/down stalls. poi spinning same direction in wall plane, one stalls going down while other stalls going up (at the same time) pull hard and reverse it and stall them again the other way.
huggies, butterfly and weave both ways. turning with all of em.
2 hand spiral wraps.
barrel rolls both ways
clean weave/buzzsaw isolations!!

been practicing with just my HOP socks for the past few weeks and things just come together. can do em all with fire poi also though, but the hyperloops are still a lil shoddy cuz of chain slippage

Hmm... 6bt weave (with a very small wrap in the end, got to try to go further)...

Also, same direction (Forward or backward) going TTN move. It's doin roughly two beats now because otherwise it's difficult to get the timing right...

Finnaly got isolated Buzzaw down properly... I don't know why people say this is the easiest move to isolate... Phew....

And alot of stuff that just has to do with turning and linking moves together =))

In the past couple of weeks I have finally learnt to do the reverse weave properly, plus high and low turns.

Shaky but coming along - basic overhead wallplanes, chasing the sun.

Yeah... don't know about on any of the videos on this site, but there's a bit on COL4 where 2 girls stand back to back and alternately do a btb buzzsaw while the other leans back with a buzzsaw over their head. With fire poi. It's pretty cool.

But to bring it all back on topic, tonight I sorted out reverse 5bt weave and got a bit of a fountain going... Worked on btb 3bt weave as well and tried some variations but they still need ironing out to make them look any good weavesmiley

Hey, it's all good! The thread's for spinners of all levels not just for people who are really good... Everyone started out somewhere, and if people post regularly it's cool seeing them progress ubbrollsmile

Thanks very much K! I'm hoping to commission some tights this week to make some sock poi. I'll be able practice indoors easier, it should be cheaper than replacing the lounge light bulbs every week! ooooops
