This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

Today, I have learnt to do a very untidy butterfly waistwrap, a nice arm/leg wrap combo, and a thru-wrap!

Productive day, methinks!

Hmmm. Productive spin to Ozzy biggrin

I think I have antispin flowers down. bounce

I can move into and out of them which was lacking before.

Most combos I can do without the look of panic combined with shear concentration that I had when I first tried them. ubblol

Turning antspin flowers are still beyond me but I can do it with one hand so far.

I think I'm also closer to 5 beat isolated weave. But not really sure. I think I understand what is ment by [Old link] now

Also been playing with random plane isolations. Really fun and silly! ubbloco

Alack and alas, I have moved forward little since my last post (about 3 weeks ago?), what with finally realising it's time to start doing some uni work.

I have now hooked up with the Sydney Uni Circus Society, SURCAS, which will hopefully be fruitful.

The few bits I've picked up in the last three weeks have been:

neck wraps
3bt btb reverse weave
the reverse of a weird wraps inside ttn weavy thing which I do but don't know what it is.

I've also figured out the hand motions for the forward 3bt btb weave but can't do it without contact 'twixt my shoulder and the poi. Something to work on, hey?

last sunday i managed to go from a fwd weave into a btb reverse weave, turning 360 and then into a normal forward weave again. (its still a little rough though)

and that after 4 hours of sleep. ^.^

Learnt loads of new stuff last night, like turning both ways and a more controlled butterfly.

I think i can almost turn in any direction now, with a bit of thinking time. Was very ubblove not dropping anything constantly, but very ooooops and frown to keep on getting hit where the sun don't shine.

i have been spinning under/between my legs for some time now, but only with one or the other poi (left or right).

Last night i managed to (finally) get a chase and follow weave through my legs MORE THAN ONCE!

I have nearly got the 4 beat windmill down bounce and I have the bruises on my ribs (only the right as havn't maneged to get the anticlockwise going yet) to proove that I havn't quite made it..yet!

Also, not doing neck wraps anymore, they leave funny scars when they go wrong, tehe. Think I read another thread about scars, maybe should go and have a looksey in there

hyperloop snakes look cool but I'll let Spiralx describe it- clever bugger smile

As far as poi in your mouth- heisenbergs don't work to well (sadly) but its nearly possible to get split time chase in your mouth... though its not recommended with 6 month 'gone everywhere been dropped in everything' poi handles... I had the taste in my mouth all evening.. YUCK! footinmouth

yes indeed... just remember that antispin is easier wallplaned than sideplaned.. that should help you learn the other direction and the turns.. wink

A hyperloop if you're turning. If you're doing it in front of you there's no need to turn, get keep your hands still once they've tangled and they should pop undone on their own - that's an airwrap.

been doing some nice 2 handed wibbling, it's got a lovely rhythm to it, Like when you see someone with 2 devilsticks doing double propellors. But with wibbles the poi just tick tock direction and bounce high and low.

Been mixing in some behind the back throws and tossing dibbles to opposite hands, all of which really messes with my head and could definitely be called "2 softClub juggling" wink

I figured out how to tangle on the right outside my arms then bring the tangle into buzzsaw and then throw the poi outside my arms on the left and it always comes seamlessly undone. I can do just a buzzsaw tangle, however this version comes undone. And I figured out hyperloop butterflys, the trick is to go forwards butterfly and buzzsaw them for half a beat till the strings tangle then stand behind it again, they untangle everytime. I linked both of these tangles togeather with a bounce wrap on one arm yesterday.

dont make peoples heads turn, give them whiplash.

i just got hyperloops too!! but i can only do them with socks at the moment, that still counts though, doesn't it?

also have unlocked the uh 5bt weave, clockwise 4 bt corkscrew (so much harder than counterclockwise for me for some reason), and "the matrix move," for which i clearly have to build up lower back and abdominal strength to do repeatedly. can only do that one counterclockwise so far. also, antispin flowers. ubblove

been a productive month.

taken out of context i must seem so strange

Spitlefields Market? Is that up north like Shropshire??
*Not looked at a map yet*

I just learned to take my 3btweave under my right leg , round the back, and back from under my left leg... I have to make a mighty hop/leap halfway through though, think I need to shorten my strings for that one! smile
