This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

Hey there....I have only been spinning poi for about 2 weeks, so I don't really know all the terminology, so please forgive any "faux poi's". I have just managed the 6 beet weave which I saw on Mot's Place. I can not, however, managed to get my arms in the position he does, so I have to let the chains wrap around my fingers before changing over to the other side. It is not 100% right yet, but getting there. I know that I should have learnt a lot more basic tricks first, but once I got the 4 and 5 beat weaves I just couldn't resist. As for behind the back..........I will keep practicing!!!!

5bt btb weave, 360 degree btb weave turns, alternating butterfly turns.

Ditto, Ðraghkyre, stilts are awesome! I've been using mine for about a month, I love them to bits. Using poi on stilts takes a lot of effort, but it's really fun and worth it to learn.

i was mucking about with hyperloops the other day and i found that if you do just your basic hyperloop from a fwd weave but do it really slow when you finnish the move (going from right to left ) my right hand poi had reversed direction and i was doing a butterfly i thinking that this was just a fluke i tryed 3 or 4 times in quick sucsession and i always ended up in butterfly

yay, I hav only had some poi for three days now, and i just did the corkscrew, i am well happy especially seeing as I haven't actually been able to go outside with em yet, so practicing in my small uni room whilst avoiding hitting the fire alarm is always fun.

Yay, I am loving poi so much already biggrin

Oh first post ever as well, xciting

Just figured out the 5bt forward last night on top of the roof of my aparment building smile So exciting.

I now know what I need to do for the backward one, but I swear my wrists don't do that, I keep smacking myself in the head.

It's true what thay say, just let the 3bt tangle enaugh times on the extra beat and you get the 5bt eventually.

Oh yeah, first post ever, too.

preductive day 2 day managed to get leg wibbles down to a fine art

i also got really good cork screw suicides

as well as what i can only presume to be a buterfly air wrap in witch i do an inward butterfly with my right poi going over my left. then i turn 90 degrees to the right and take my right hand poi with me this so tangles with my right hand poi thus also pulling over the left hand poi. the chians then untangle and it nicely goes in to a weave. can anyone tell me what this really is

got really weird one moved from 5bt to above the head into a wrap thing which wont unwind unless bought behind the head and then into a 3bt backwards weave. tried and tested x but cant split them apart can only do as a sequence. hmm....

Butterfly weave, 7 bt weave, and a couple basic wraps (I've been slacking with my wraps, so I figured I'd better catch up). Working on hyperloops, they're coming slowly. I hope to have it down by next weekend.

Scuse me for butting in chaps but this is the most hilarious thread I've ever read, much funnier than anything in the chat section!! No no I'm not laughing AT you.. and I do know what yr talking about, but I just tried reading it as if I don't and then tried to imagine what on earth you're talking about....Negative space tangles !!! Love it!!!! That's what happens in a too small shared house kitchen, right? ( apple crumble... veges... Cork screw suicides!)

Carry on, I am gobsmacked with awe and have almost made my first pair of socks!
