This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

uh, dunno if it's weird or not, cos i got the 3bt weave about 2 months ago, then the reverse 3bt about 1 month ago and last night i've only just figured how to do a corkscrew and windmill confused

oh and since someone mentioned a 2bt a while ago, i tried and i can't do it anymore! eek

Play taught me:

Opposite direction poi, opposite direction arms flowers
Some kind of anti-spin buzzsaw thing
Whip catches (Fanks Beth smile)
Oli loops
Reverse hyperloops

Hooray for silly technical things. I got to spin to some very nice drumming on the Saturday night, too, so thankyou to those people who were at it - it may have been my drunken state but you sounded ace to me smile

Keep it up JerryD, the 5bt is a big step in tech spinning! The reverse 5bt is nasty compared to the forward. Your wrists don't want to twist that way naturally. I find the reverse 5bt easier when my wrists wrap at about eye level.

Once you get the 5bt smooth, try doing the same wrist motion in a windmill.

i seem to be putting a lot on here lately. Ive got a rlealy kewl butterfly combination. BTB butterfly - buterfly - angel wings, tis a nice combination if ur starting off a show.
Ive also got half of another butterfly move, when you cros ur hand behind ur back and create a butterfly on your far side, the move that into all arond your body, basically a load of differnet variations without moving.

I'm really new to this - I'm only a fledgling that's 4 days old - but I learned the weave!

The only way I could do it was by following the adive of people in the "weave help" post - using sticks to walk through it step by step was the kicker...really really helped me see where the poi would go when I moved my hands to certain places.

Incredible!! Oh, fun fun fun.

Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks?

Almost consistent with BTB weave, but not sure which one...it's the one that you get into from the rev weave by throwing one hand behind. So the BTB rev weave I guess. Can't turn into the other one yet though, much whappage.

I finally got something that'll pass for a low turn...my left arm is just holding me back, but - if I lean over and twist at the hip and squat down a bit I can sort of make it happen smile
