This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

Anti spun fountains, so poi are traveling clockwise in my hands, but my hands are traveling counter clockwise in a big foutnain pattern .the fountain goes buzzsaw, chase sun ther side buzzzsaw and weave Thru my legs, to buzzsaw, to chase sun. I can do this on both sides of my body and its pretty fun.

front and behind weave wall plane, waistwrapped, poi stay in front of body and hands are reaching as far as they can. Can do forwards an reversed and a turning version that uses both.

dont make peoples heads turn, give them whiplash.

shower with pass btb rocks - thrust those hips out!

i spent about 5 minutes babbling on about planes to bams and smallboy before trying something new:

inside weave in the rear wallplane is close now.

but i reckon inside-inside weave will take another couple of hours yet...

im sure you can allready do them and have been for ages, but spin in wheel plane, do a weave, spinning forewards, cross your right arm behind your back , throw the right poi so that the head hovers just over your shoulder next to your ear, the other end flips over and you catch it back into a weave, then do the same with your left arm. ive been trying to do it continous but i cant...
they work in wall plane too, except you can make the end that is hovering land on your forehead so you look a bit like a seal...

Right I think this is my first time on this thread so here goes....
I started trying to learn more than butterfly and 3 beat weave this week and I managed on thursday & saturday to learn competently:

5 beat weave
Butterfly weave
gyroscope
hip reels
shoulder reels
waist wraps (very scrappy )
Butterfly flowers
normal flowers (and almost anti-spin flowers... that will take until falmouth I recon)
erm.. I think there were 2 others but I can't remember it was a busy few hours....

Thank you for your time biggrin I'll go back to staff now

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

he learns things too quickly i showed him 5 beat and in 5 mins he was doing it

anyone who thinks its not true try and teach him something at falmouth and see just how quick he picks it up its very frustrating. mad2

still i recently learnt how to do butterfly and normal flowers both directions recently and am now working on antispin

okay, for lack of a better word....

zero point airwraps

basically, one of the poi is stationary, ie in the middle of a stall (i've found horizontal stalls the easiest) and the other poi powers through the airwrap

so, zero point, because one poi is not moving, at least initially

Im practising continual throwing switches,

ok two others I got

1)

Wall plane, left wrap right and catch poi head,

and you get the loop out of hand and play with

axis in the middle.

2)

With horizontal buzzsaw hyperloop you can

free the lower loop for a while and re-

catch it again without Poi twistin.

sounds interesting richee!

i've been playing around with lots of insides, head catches, throws and getting lost in knots lately which has resulted in:

-being able to 'infinite' air wrap at last.. through an eventual understanding of 'isolated cone theory' (it's only taken two years) rolleyes
-sometimes being able get turning hyperloops
-changing directions of loops with hand stalls
-being able to go from hyperloops/airwarps into barrel rolls and vice versa
-getting into tangles from other kinds of insides (see above)
-getting a glimpse at what might be possible with turning continual butterfly loops...
-nice throw ideas although still mostly sketchy...
-turning from huggies into and out of inside/crosser moves
-lots of fun with btb reel turns

still need a few weeks to consolidate it all but it's getting there! smile

I came home early from college & managed to learn 4 bt TTN (inwards & outwards), split time TTN (inc tranisitions into & out of both), reverse 5 beat weave (gave up on that a couple months ago, took me about 10 minutes today), and BTB rev weave

these have been on my to learn list for ages, but I only attempted em today, I'm quite miffed cause now I'm gonna have to learn flowers or something & I don't like practicing new stuff.

Well, start BW butterfly, than trow one Poi underneath to horizontal still and recatch it over the wrist. The other Poi does 1 beat front and than repat the same pattern. You should end with forward butterfly.

2)

I've found again, spiral wrap that I after 2 loop transit to other side where is recoiled.

bonus - Pendulum BTL BTB(thanks Dratek)
