This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

Managed to hit 4 consecutive 4beat butterfly weave utl. Took a while and is very contorted. Got it on camera, not a pretty move at all.

Geez, I'd give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

EDIT: after a conversation with nx, I realised I'm doing a crosser and not a straight jacket...

What's the difference between straight jackets and crossers?

Crosser is just where left hand is on right side and vice versa. One arm is on top of the other.

A SJ is a crosser where your arms are in the same position you'd be in if you had your arms crossed

i posted earlier that i got the 3bt btb weave. well i don't really have it! i thought i had it, but what i was doing was not it. don't know what was going on -- a 2 bt maybe? anyway i now have 3 bts on one side but then i lose it. sigh. practice practice.

i HAVE however gotten the isolated ttn, both over and under hand, and an isolated forwards 3 bt. weave (not a very strong isolation on the weave though, but it's recognizably isolated), and the spiral wrap (coming into it from a forwards weave). now if only i could get that isolated buzzsaw....and cleaner flowers...and waistwraps...and the reverse 5 bt. weave...and...

taken out of context i must seem so strange

o the top half of the 6 beat butterfly weaves.
o umm... and i guess i finished learning all 4 double butterfly neck through-wraps (suicide?), whereas I only knew 2 of them before (front real and btb fake, which i think means both were reverse). now i know them all and i'm more confused about when to use them. thanks poi god.

Yay! Feeling very n00b, but have finally nailed the 5bt weave; just needed to wrap hands further and then try and untangle them! simple really.

Now for the reverse 5bt - nearly there, but am not doing it quite right; it's giving me a sore nose.

And I have a trick which looks totally weird, I haven't ever seen it done before, though I'm sure it has been. I'll actually master it then get back to you.

Good news everyone.

This little kitten just learned the three beat behind the back weave.

I'll be back in a few minutes to tell you i just did it five beat..

Also on that note. I never learned how to do a regular three beat weave.
for some reason when i was trying to learn it i managed to do a five beat and thought that was it and kept on doing it.

I really wasnt looking forward to learning the five beat until some other poi spinner was shocked that i could do the five beat and told me what i was doing.

He said "your doing the five beat weave thats hell pro"
and i just said "........ ......... Bullshit"

The bad thing is, now i have to learn the three beat ^_^
