This space is for all those funksters busy improving their technique by learning new moves - made-up or traditional.

Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

edit: tooo say how happpy this made me... i had to go sit down for about five minutes a chuckle quietly to myself after i did it for the first time. it gave me that 'things are getting silly' feeling... they will.

Yesterday I did a Butterfly to BTB Butterfly. Then I did it again...it didn't work. I hate that sometimes you can do a trick and when you try it again, you can't. I hate that...

Hmm, there's gotta be something round and shiny, I can play with

redface - i dont think this is what you think it is though.. its like the bit that happens outside your arms for weave ones, except it happens between your arms for butterflys.. im writing a long post (which is probably all wrong) at the moment to try and explain this.

Hmm.. well..
Can't say I went that far!

Still, the one-handed butterfly was just cause to run round the patio and bang on all the windows to get my family out to come and watch redface

What can i say? i'm very proud of my accomplishments, and need to prove to someone that i can do it before they hit at the bottom of their circle and whack me in the balls ubbrollsmile

buzzsaw weave! Hoorah! For so long i couldn't even figure out what the heck you guys were talking about, but I can do it now, forward at least. And it's coming in reverse as well.

Even though I can't smoothly do a full reverse buzzsaw weave from left to right and back again, I can now throw the buzzsaw into the flow of moves as a decoration, which is really the goal anyways.

doubles contact!
from parallel, pass left staff into shoulder-neck-shoulder-halo then recatch in left hand.
during this, pass the right staff to left btb, then back to right in front, so the left is free to recatch the first staff. theres about 8 variations of this i can think of right now to work on biggrin

hug to martin the uber seal and especially to hexagonic will hug

i learnt a *lot* last night.

all these tricks i was shown at spitz and managed to land them at least once, with some being solid by the end of the evening!

(6x,4)(4,2x) - been doing this symmetically for a while but could only ever get 2 or 3 cycles until it broke down. doing it all on one side feels like a sync 7441 and it is solid as you like smile

(6x,2x)(2x,6x) - ds ads showed me this on sunday but i didn't get it until will demonstrated last night.

71 b121[53]1 71 - 4b shower multiplex fun - this is a high single-low 'plex. added it to my normal 4b shower 'plex and extended so it goes direct into high-low shower (9151) instead of a normal shower (71). which gives me my longest ever siteswap sequence: (4)24[75]171b121[53]191517123(4) ubbrollsmile and if you understand all that, you are a better man than me!

642 - splendid little 4b trick that will be handy for learning 64 (out of 5b cascade).

martin's magic 3b sync shower trick - ask uber seal about this one... ubbloco juggle

shoulder throws with clubs - double spin over the shoulder. right arm only so far but i already managed it with fire clubs (sunday night)!

14 catches of 6b wimpy

and on top of all that the princess and i found ourselves an act that we can prepare for our visit to chateau chatbleu biggrin

Starting BTB weave backwards, cud only get into it from forwards BTB until something clicked! yey for clickiness biggrin

Also, weird wrappy thing around body exiting in hyperloop (yes I suck at explaining) and more importantly, weave hyperloops under the arm insted of over and hyperloops BTB and horizotnal hyperloops (arms vertical, poi horizontal) too, all of which were pretty easy and I don't understand why I've never done them before confused ah well better late than never smile

Some nice whip catch variations and also a weird way of exiting normal hyperloops, on each odd beat you can literally throw the poi out really clean by throwing the handle downwards. I got it flying to about 10 feet away from me on my right at the mo but it's all in vain cuz I'm trying to make it go upwards!! Ah well, will come in time, it's in there somewhere smile weavesmiley
