Tell us all about it! We love hearing about our fellow poiers/staffies/misc. toyers succeeding with new things biggrin

It's just hard to keep up with it all sometimes, so if we keep it together you'll be certain to get a little feedback.

here a pat on the back in advance from me

Posted:Yay! I still can't do BTB weave for crap (shoulders/collarbone do not like that move), but I just learned waist wrap on one side (left arm wrapping behind the back to swing in front on the right side). I think I'll be able to do WW on both sides in just a bit, just ran out of time on my break frown.. fun stuff tho! Smacked my face good a few times (to the amusement of coworkers) :P.

Definition of poi- A Hawaiian food made from the tuber of the taro that is cooked, pounded to a paste, and fermented.

Basic move: Weave (wall plane)

Basicly there are three parts.

a) Throw - One hand is continuously passing
Poi wall plane for one turn (2B),accross to the
other hand.

b) Catch - Other hand catch the Poi and make one
circle before

c) it give's it to the other hand that throw it again after
one cicle.

If this doesnt make sense, teel me, the timing is
important here. Two ball shower can help.

i usually do a sloppy transition
while doing a butterfly i let the sock wrap until the right length and seperate and force the poi to do circles between my hands. It's not pretty. you can wrap from your side circles too. if you can do a backbend too more power to you. just be creative about your transitions. i start off in a buzzsaw sometimes and then see how to come out of it smoothly and do that backwards...but i'm not that cooridinated...i'm sure other people have better suggestions redface biggrin

3bt forward weave
5bt forward weave
btb 3bt forward weave (The newest move I've learnt. Can transition in from btb backward weave, but can't get out again heh)
3bt backward weave
btb 3bt backward weave
butterfly and a bunch of variations
thread the needle

I think that's it.

Meteor is like poi but with the 2 handles stuck together, so 2 weights on the end of a rope. Have a search!

Edit: I'm completely addicted to butterfloops now, I've got 3 of them down now, just working on the 4th. So much fun!

Posted:Concetric flower - Poi butterfly, hands alternate long arm. More about flowers comming soon.

Explanation:

Concentric flower(Wheel plane)

Combination of two flower routines.

1) Long arm BTB Weave full flower(3 steps)

This can be done from wind mill to the first 'vertical'

half flower behind your back. Than you continue BTB

to the second 'horizontal' half flower and finsh

the first part with third 'vertical' half flower behind

your back.

->reel(shoulder & hip one) to front half(transition)

2) Long arm Weave full anti-spin flower (3 steps)

First two 'vertical' foils with anti-spin. Than you

continue to the secont 'horizontal' two foils with

anti-spin and finsh two 'vertical' foils with anti-

spin.

(here you can continuously repeat routines)

Part of advanced flower thread Im going

to write soon.

buzzsaw hyperloop wrist stops (change buzzsaw hyperloop directions) - can't do them every time though :/
Antispin-ish butterfly buzzsaw weave! easier done than said!

I learned soooo much at firedrums, met some amazing spinners (musashii, icon, dan, dave, sooo many others) and slept entirely too much smile

Butterfly arms with butterfly poi, poi are antispin in both hands, I like this, I like bitterfly time poi;arms follow time in reverse. I really want to learn long arm / waist wrapped flowers- hybrid that is on a video around here. Damn that was sweet.
