Music to spin to, Tell us your favourite music to dance to

Has anyone ever thought of making a "poiers" music album? A collection of music that's GREAT to poi to? What music would you put on it?

My favourite music..

I'll start it off with 'Bony Incus (the man with no name mix)', by Eat Static. What music would other people put on it?

Happy (rythmical) Swinging,

Tim

Nice In Extremo wink
LED or practice -> Basshunter
Fire (have not lit yet) -> probably nothing, Basshunter, or tribal sounding music
Firebreathing -> None, just let the fire speak for itself

The only luck is bad luck.

Shut up before I stall my poi up your ass grin

I love to spin to Basshunter too smile

I also like to spin to video game music, Tetris, and lots of techno.

Music that makes you feel like getting up and dancing is what I like to dance poi to.

Here're some good mid-tempo songs that get me dancin' like a fool:

"Kyoteizinc" by Omodaka (Chiptune meets Enka)
"Inertia Creeps" by Massive Attack (Dark downtempo/triphop/goa vibe)
"Feels Just Like It Should" by Jamiroquai (Can't help but dance to this one)
"Divine Moments of Truth" by Shpongle (It was mentioned here before, but it definitely bears repeating).

I also design T-shirts, if you're into that sort of thing...

I've really been getting into Gogol Bordello. They are pure win! If you listen to this music and aren't filled with the urge to grab a partner, jump on the nearest table and dance away then you are a cold heartless person on the inside!

They have so much heart and soul, you can feel it in every song. Whenever I've got my iPod on and I'm listening to these guys while spinning, it's hard to stop! Gypsy punk FTW!

Also I'm a huge fan of the Prodigy for poi spinning even if I know it's a bit obvious!
I can also spin great on Irish drinking songs like Whiskey in the Jar!

Amazingly, and totally against everything I stand for, Trance is one of my favourite things to spin to, especially anything by the Artist ASTRIX.

However there is one song to which i think i do my best spinning, I dont know what it is about it, whether its the general make up of the song or the fact I associate it with Playpoi or what, but Delhi 2 Dublin - Nightstep is a phenominal peice of music to spin to, i recomend everyone check it out grin

When I flow, it's usually to my boyfriend's Djembe playing. When that isn't available, it's The XX, (surprisingly enough...) Eiffel 65's first album. (the one with "blue"... just not that song..) The Werks, Papadosio, and of course, and most often, anything DUBSTEP.

I'm finding now it depends on how I'm feeling, how can it get more complicated choosing music? x) My music is now not consistent with any genre what so ever. Except that it's not rap and not dubstep.

Actually I seemed to have found a good consistency with Scooter x) By the way. How much is the fish?

was spinning to some weird semi-tribal irish gaelic vocal music (I have no idea what it was but that's the best description I can come up with) and it was surprisingly cool. if I had more room and hadn't been spinning for family I might have been able to really dig into that and pull a character out.

also have fallen in love with spinning to Massive Attack lately. so much of their stuff sits right there at the perfect tempo for flowing.

And the wine will run
And the song must be sung
And the flowers are melting

With the recent festivals here in Seattle, I've discovered I enjoy spinning to bluegrass, soul, and salsa. I think I'll still take glitch hop and dubstep as my defaults, though.
