I know there are a couple of crazy people on here but this will be frowned upon by many, here goes: is there any way of attatching sparklers etc? onto poi without doing too much harm? or hell, i might be able to get hold of some of that funky magnesium that sparkles for a while and attatch that? I have a firemans suit to test them with so no need for lectures, just any suggestions? Anyone done it before? It can't be an original idea... and otherwise does anyone have fantastic plans for bonfire night?
Criticism is welcome?..?

To be straight out honest I knew exactly what was going to said on this thread before I entered it and here I am standing before you as letters on a page. I will give a small warning about what your going to try but actually I'm all for it.
Fireworks and poi happens to be some of the most dangerous fun things to play with and all the more precaution you take the better.
I' never thought of the fireman suit .
But attaching the sparklers to poi is as simple as bending the wire around the last link of you poi.
What's the problem?
As for mixing fireworks and other stuff to get a ton of different affects its all in the name of Sience so the world thanks you greatly for your daring adventure.
Mine wasn't to bad but fire is more than enough fun forever for me

As long as your not planning to attach the odd sky rocket or banger to your poi you should be ok.

The only reservation I'd have with sparklers is they burn a LOT hotter than parrafin based fire, and even in a firemans outfit your face is still gonna be exposed... if you get it wrong, you are going to end up eating hot love sparkler and that is gonna make a serious mess.

I've wrapped a fire poi round my head and was left with a nice little scab, but if you've seen the old firework saftey adds you'll know that sparklers will do a lot more damage even if contact is only for a few seconds, do you want to risk that kind of damage on your face?

Personally I wouldn't m8...

Titanium Flakes will do it. Roll towel wicks in it. Skylighter sells it in bulk. Be careful when using though.

Also trying running a search on "Sparkly Poi" to get all the info you ever wanted on the topic.

I tried flares. Hmmmm don't think I'll do that again...I have tried sparklers also...but found the sparks were not big enough to warrant the possible burn. I did initially wrap the sparkler round my wick...but it kind of started burning into the wick (I didn't like that much!!!). Sparkly Poi is obviously the ulitmate...have done that lots, but it is very hard to find an environment that is safe for this...as the sparks fly quite some distance, and are renound for burning through things (especially clothes).

You can find certain publications on the net which, amoungst other stuff, detail how to get the sparkly stuff off sparklers and the sort of glues you can use to reshape the powder. Possessing these certain publications can land you in hot trouble with Plod tho, as they also tell you how to make much more exciting substances, so be circumspect if you try and get hold of them.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.

Sounds like I'm gonna have lots of fun! Are there any big plans in London or hertfordshire for the weekend around the 5th? I know of a free party the weekend after which promises to be excellent but I like to have options?

Drop Strugz a PM - he's been experimenting with attaching Sparklers to his staffs with some very nice results. I'm just putting together a video which has a clip of him doing it.

Do you think that electronic flash gun really shoots a massive ball of flame out of your hand. How cool is that

Everything I've ever ordered from Skylighter has been quality and I've even had the pleasure of speaking with the owner. Stand up professionals who know their stuff so I'd imagine that electronic flash gun does as it's advertised. Might have to check out the double-barreled version when I get time!

Be safe this Samhain/All hallows eve. I had a few close calls a couple years ago. Gave me a whole new respect for pyrotechnics.

In the 60's people took acid to make the world weird, now the world is weird and they take prozac to make it normal again.
