So, there I am sipping at my cold coffee, casually watching the news on a friday night, listening to the story of the amazing escape a young lad made from armed guerrillas in Colombia. When it suddenly dawns on me that a while back me and the lad on my telly would go spin poi at the drome in London! Is this true? Is Matthew Scott actually the Matt (poiboy) I spun with back then? Any help is appreciated guys and girlies, I feel like I'm going insane!

He didn't mention dazzling them with his poi skills to enable him to make good his escape...

Funny chap.

He must've forgotten....

Actually i thought he looked a bit like a HoPper but I'm not telling you who (in case Flid is offended).

Of course a quick and easy test to find out the truth would be to phone poiboy and ask him if he enjoyed Colombia.

If he sounds confused then it's the wrong lad.

If, however, he says something like:

"Shit, yeah it was pretty bad man... in the end I had to dazzle the guards with my poi skills to make good my escape...."

Then you could be onto a winner.

well if he were in fact inside you then he would be much easier to contact.

It's a shame that you've lost his number when you were both so close in the past.....

it's an old trick. Look at the URL closely. I could have encoded it much better, but alas i couldn't be arsed to put in that much effort

more worrying, the same url scam was used in spam to trick people into using a fake replica site of online banking accounts a few weeks back. Never made the news, but was online for several hours before being taken off, would be a simple task to write an automated script to take the details then use them on the real site to transfer all the money in the account to an account elsewhere, then bounce the money around the place/different countries to launder it. The site was hosting replicas of various banks in different countries, in the hours it was up it must have harvested thousands of account security details at least. Oh the wonders of the internet

when you say "old trick" you mean that cavemen were doing it?

Actually i think i read somewhere that a lot of black marketeers in the WWII made lots of money from internet scams and by rigging up fake webpages to dupe grief stricken war widows into parting with their ration books.....

And didn't Shakespeare use a webpage to trick Christopher Marlow into giving him some of his plays?

On Saturday (11 Oct) the Telegraph interviewed this guy, apparently he is a circus tricks and juggling enthusiast who made what they call balls out of a pair of socks with gravel in the toe while in Columbia.

There is a slight possibility that I am not actually right all of the time.
