In answer to the dyslexia question, Flynt, there are many different types and severities of dyslexia so it probably depends greatly on the case. It does help someone without dyslexia understand it a bit better. I mean why, logically, should we be able to read the above paragraph? Clearly our brain is doing some subconsious work (picking out clues and patterns) to allow us to still read it. If your brain couldn't do that, then you'd be unable to read it, such as a severely dyslexic person reading a correctly typed word.

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

Posted:Maybe, due to some forms of dyslexia, people sometimes read letters in words in the wrong order and mix the word up generally. So by mixing up the letters it appeals to the reading lessons that they where taught (and maybe cant apply to normal spellings but do know) and somehow makes sense.

I could be talking bollocks as each manifestation of dyslexia is different and affects people differently. Some peoples dyslexia is less involved in their ability to read and more about their ability to spell, to me (as one of those people) some of those words almost looked 'technically right' as i attempted to read them because of the first and last letter being correct. so i had no problem in reading and understanding. ( but dont ask me to rearrange the letters correctly )

Also that wont work for more severly dyslexic people who have trouble recognising letters for what they are or have the problems with words sinking of jumping of the page at them.

oops went a lil off subject there, interesting observation though.

Understood every word of it - wierd...

It's almost as if the brain does some sort of pattern matching trick based on length, first & last letters and previous words in the sentence.

Still cool whichever way you explain it...

Posted:Ive never been diagnoised with dyslexia but Could hardly read up untill grade 5. I had been through all kinds of special classes etc.. to teach me how to read. I struggled with it and hardly had made any progress. Then I just decided to read the hobbit out of the clear blue. Which was the first real book I had read (not including run spark, see spark run and the likes) I read it easily, then read lord of the rings triology a few months latter. After that I was reading at a university level while still in grade 5 or 6. I took standardized tests and all my scores were through the roof in the areas of various english skills. (although my grammar is horrible) The weird thing is ive taken the multiple intelligence tests over and over and the last one I wrote was recently and my scores have remained the same since the time they first "jumped". I guess im just a freak.

One of the reasons I don't like looking at license plates is because I'll see words jumping out at me... (I'll see a license plate saying RVR 123, for example, and I'll immediately see RIVER 123) I think my brain's a bit hyperactive in the recognition department... I didn't actually notice the title of the thread of wrong until I actually started reading it...

Agh, maybe I'm just wierd.
