Not Quite Pittsburgh Juggling Festival III will be Nov. 12 to 14 at Quaker Valley Middle School, 201 Graham St., Sewickley, Pa., and you don’t want to miss it!

The Leave It to Beaver Valley Jugglers and the Quaker Valley Middle School Juggling Club are sponsoring this three-day event. Jugglers from several states will attend, and the event is open to anyone who juggles, wants to learn how to juggle or just wants to watch. Last year, about 170 jugglers from several states and Canada attended. The Saturday evening show had an audience of about 300.

Free general juggling activities will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Nov. 12, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Nov. 13 and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 14 in the school gym. The festival juggling show -- which will delight people of all ages -- will take place at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in the school auditorium and costs $3 per person.

Activities on Nov. 12 include open juggling, juggling lessons for beginners, a used prop sale, juggling videos and light-up juggling after dark, weather permitting.

Activities on Nov. 13 include open juggling, juggling lessons for beginners, juggling videos, juggling games, workshops, a raffle, a used prop sale, a BMX demonstration and the show.

The show, emceed by Bob Nickerson, will feature yo-yo and juggling champion Mark Hayward, members of the Leave It to Beaver Valley Jugglers, members of the Case Juggling Club from Case Western University in Cleveland, Flamingo Award winner, Atlanta Phil trophy winner and International Jugglers Association juniors finalist Ashley Ellis, and others.

Activities on Nov. 14 include open juggling, juggling videos and a used prop sale.

Vendors will be on hand throughout to sell juggling equipment and other juggling-related items. Unicycles and stilts are welcome.

Donations will be accepted to help cover festival costs.

This year, we have juggling festival rates at two local motels. The deadline for getting the $99-a-night rate at the Fairfield Inn on Neville Island is Nov. 1. After that date, you can request the rate, but the hotel might not honor it. The hotel has an indoor pool, whirlpool spa and fitness room, and the room rate includes a continental breakfast.

A $55 rate for a Days Inn in Coraopolis also is available. That hotel has an indoor pool and fitness room and also offers a continental breakfast in the rate.

Instructions for how to book using the fest rates for the motels are on the fest Web site.

If you have nonjuggling family members or friends who want to come along, Sewickley has a quaint shopping district with restaurants, interesting shops and art galleries. It is about half an hour’s drive away from some of Pittsburgh’s top tourist attractions, including the Carnegie Science Center, Andy Warhol Museum, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and National Aviary.

The newest addition to the Friday-evening schedule is a juggle-art painting demonstration in which Bill Roddy and his crew will paint with their juggling props while juggling them.
