ok well its confirmed.

IVe booked the date in, and so now we have a lovely big Hall with a Kitchen and toilet block, along with a big ass campign area and flat area to use for the weekend! sept 30, Oct 1, 2 and 3. Its in a beautiful location only 5 minutes from the closest Public Transport and Supermarket, or 25 minutes by car from the Adelaide GPO. We can arrange transport to and from the site from the Bus stop given a bit of notice.

We've also bought a big ass markee to use as a 2nd learning area if the workshops get too big to fit in the hall.

I was thinking we could also have a bit of a party on the saturday night if people were able to chip in for a PA...

so yeah - if you are interested in something or doing something else - say so!

and yes - there will be a large campfire, and a big fire spin.

hehe yeah it would be cool. unfortunately the cost of getting international expert teachers would double or triple our forcast budget - and that would have to be put onto the ticket price. I think that would reduce access to people on marginal incomes - and turn Common Ground into Uber Ground. Anyone who went to both Uber and CG would tell you they were quite different events, and I for one want to maintain the diversity smile

Me too! Hear Hear to diversity!

Uberimporting teachers will have to remain a rarity if affordability is an issue at all.. which is is of course.. tyranny of distance and all that...

The need for public liability insurance, DA's etc for doofs here in Sydney make it really hard to do parties the legal way.

also, diversity for the actual mood of the event, which for people like me, who dont end up doing workshops all that much and really just want to catch up and hug people... Common Ground is really more my thing.

besides. I will bring more bubble mix to CG for you BrettStar.... Promise!

Hey Gabe

i think it would be a Development Application - i know here at the Garden Of Unearthly Delights they have to put their plans through council to hold an event in Rundle Park.

there are insurance issues that are proving to be very difficult to sort out relating to spinning fire as its not covered by the halls public liability insurance, all insurance companys handball fire insurance questions to duck to cover, who only do performers insurance and wont do events. without insurance we cant hire the venue hence the making sure its happening first.

there is a possibly way around this by taking out employers insurance and getting everyone who attends to sign a volunteers form, but this still needs to be investigated properly.
