Is there a specific name for weave when you're spinning the left poi backwards and the right one forwards (or vice versa)?

Thankyou! (If this has already been answered, you can just point me in the right direction and I'll skedaddle...my computer is so very very slow that it takes me a million years to search through all the search results).

Can be called Opposite weave.

In fact the motion is turn with Butterfy or Thread the Needle, depend on if each hand do on one side 1 or 2 beats. imagine you do BF in the front of you (wall plane ) and than turn to the other side, then you do the same motion.

Yes, it's called a butterfly weave.
Your poi are spinning a butterfly, and your hands are spinning a weave motion.

There's quite a bit of info about it [Old link]

Hope this helps. smile

And now I remember, someone was showing me this a few months ago...if they'd just said 'weave with poi spinning in opposite directions' I would've known what they were doing!
Thankyou guys. I am satisfied now .

They opposite weave is like a broken ttn.. Rather than two halves of a ttn in the same plane you take half a ttn from each side... Most people don't notice that.. Or they do.. They jusst don't realize its just a ttn.. Lol... Normal ttn= right half then left half or left and right (opposites).. Bf weave = right half and right half or left and left (same)

After two poi's to the nose and one to the eye I have to admit that I have no idea how to even start this...but I will keep trying. Sanse depth perception or sense of smell

A high powered mutant of some kind never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live and too rare to die.

how about splitting it, then?
smile
split that butterfly weave, and have a play around.. like, thread that needle for six beats split time on the right and then flow over to the left, crossing over with your right hand first, on top of your left...

gosh the possibilities are limited (but close to limitless)...!

maybe one day... wink

I think that there is another weave possible than the butterfly weave, it is more of a crossover trick where your arms cross the poi crossover for one beat then cross back over Left over right, the thing is the poi are always seperated one on each side in opposite directions at all times.. Its like doing the crossover move with the poi in seperated butterfly time. This move can be translated into the buzzsaw plane- which can be seen in the COL 4 teaser.

Im pretty sure that this is different from the butterfly weave, I can do two very distinct weaves, one butterfly time, one with poi spinning opposite.

dont make peoples heads turn, give them whiplash.

Do you do this like a butterfly, or do you spin in follow time with the poi spinning opposite directions? confused

I learnt it in follow time...
