New move (to me) from a Steve, whipping my hand away to make a mid-air horizontal spin and catching it on my back of my other hand to another Steve...

fairly obvious:

throat wrap to chest halo to halo (on the back, jesus transition) to neck wrap to halo to chest halo to throat wrap etc...

sort of like a halo 360 to a front halo 360 linked by the jesus style transition. Or like a jesus with extra beats of fun in it.

can only do back then front or front then back... not back front back front continuous... redface

I'm still struggling with throat wrap to frontside halo (front half jesus) trap reverse frontside halo into jesus, my chin keeps getting in the way after the trap, now I can't play for several weeks frown

A couple of balls short of a full cascade... or maybe a few cards short of a deck... we'll see how this all fans out.

Oooh shiny! smile Might be "obvious" but I've never tried it and it sounds nice and hard. Lovely!

Leg steves: Horizontal, on my back, very undignified at the moment. I'm finding the low crotch on my trousers goes taut giving me extra face/balls clearance.
They work on the front and backs of the legs, no half beat ay the crotch (lets just take the innuendo as read, yes?) so I guess they're minimal beat, sort of.
As for starting them and attempting to make them continuous well I'm passing the staff between my ankles or insteps depending on where it ends up.
I need to more limber certainly but I'm actually finding it's my ab's that ache after practicing this.

In entirely unrelated news I managed to get fujimi's (F.cutbacks!) last night with a poxy-no grip flowerstick. frown
It may just be that batons are better for learning some stuff. I've just about transferred them over to my staff but it seems the extra weight/momentum of my heavy staff actually works against the mechanics of this move.

More baton porn biggrin

wow, as usual.

Cool she's in The Cirque du Soleil, really interesting to hear that as, well, normally you just see them spin for copetition, and that's all they spin for, or at least all you get to hear about.

But did anyone else feel they were watching a V for Vendetta mask ? eek

That leg thing is uber hard with baggy trousers.

I think in the video she does it opposite arm tot he shoulder it ends up on, if you do it with the same arm it's a bit easier, and easy to cheat it, by gathering it in your elbow to bring it up to your shoulder.

Obviously it goes up to your shoulder you can then do a halo roll and let in run back down your body to catch under the leg again.

Sometimes (doing it the easy way) it would get to my hip and then decide to cross my body, which was a bit weird. (and probably entirely plane breaking)

it's such a shame gravity only works downwards.

Oh new move-ish:

looking at the sky, staff vertically does a neck wrap (your arm coming up and over your face, like the baton twirler vertical neck wrap, it should really fall off, but you release late and really wrap your arm around your head.) do a throat wrap out of it, once it's on the other side turn and do whatever vertical contact move you feel like. (if you were strugz it would be halo 360 into a jesus.)

do you mean that kinda kick thing she does where it goes from between your legs pivots on your side and up to a halo?
I was messing about with that and i found it helps to lean away from the staff when its going in and then lean into it as it hits your side. You can kinda cheat a bit by ducking slightly to get it onto your shoulder.

Id like to get a cartwheel extention once it goes down the other side but i recon thats a bit of a way off yet. Damn horizontal plane cartwheel rolls are well 'ard

yeah, that's the one. The baton twirler, does them in a different way, leaning away from the staff the whole time.

I think they would go into a beetle quite nicely too. THou I think the beetle might be a bit easier with a horizontal halo...

That was a very productive spin smile
Ok i think it is possible but its really hard to get down to the floor in time to get the beetle going.
That kick move (a kung fu?) is easier vertically, also if you catch it right you can do a throat wrap instead of a halo.
You're right about the horizontal halo making the beetle easier, i also found if you spin around like you were gonna go into a twister but start the horizontal halo instead the staff keeps its momentum better after it goes over the legs. Still havnt managed a clean one yet tho frown.
Also i discovered a new (i think) horizontal pivot variation, go into a H. Halo to pivot and cross your arms like an origami, pivot like that.

Been learning some weird doubles staff on staff contact. The reach you get when you catch a long staff near the end of it's sibling is huge...

I've finally got a site up, so hopefully can put some of these dubywackers up in vids in the next week or two ubbrollsmile

Contact without dance is like sex without wiggling.
A) it does feel as good
B) it does not look as good on film

biggrin Yay! Been wanting to see more (read any) videos of your staffing for a while now!

Hmm... apart from working on my secret project I've been trying to figure more ways to go from a triple cross and tri-axis into contact. Plus working out what doubles moves are possible whilst doing shoulder/neck contact with the third staff. I'm actually starting to get the anti-spin flowers + Lucero's pretty smooth now. Horizontal stuff and flowers is still shaky though.

Starting to work on four staff stuff too... Can do dual fishtails whilst holding two smaller sticks then transfer into triple cross + lucero's, it's v.messy but do-able.

Move to dream about:- Quad staff, dual fishtails into dual angel rolls.

ubblove

my mate merlyn came round for a spin today and we came up with a new one, horizontal behind the back elbow wraps. Go in from a horzontal halo, pivot up to your elbow and quickly propellor your elbow so it wraps and rolls back down your back and across to the other side. Only got left side so far but feels like it has potential.
Managed a leg steve, when it comes out it feels like it wants to go up the back as i twist round but that involves lots more twisting around on the floor than i can manage at the moment.

Came up with a great dream move last night that i dont think ill ever get, not really my bag but chrono might like it.

3 staffs, 2 in reverse fihtail while the other does an angel roll. When the angel roll is about to reach the hand, throw the fishtail (in the hand about to catch the angel roll) up at the same time as starting the next angel roll (other fishtailing hand straight to angel) then with your now free hand catch the thrown staff back into fishtail. Repeat.
So basically a 3 staff fountain with fishtails and angel rolls.

Chrono if you can pull this off i will worship the ground you walk on for at least a month biggrin
