Oh thanks IA- I'd lost the link to the second site ages ago, and hadn't seen the first one before.
Eleanor (pengwino) introduced me to the spinning of Nick Woolsey. He's a guy I'd love to meet, and it might force us to make the journey to Vancouver. biggrin

Well it'd be like a weekend trip for you smile You could go now and then if he's got workshops or something, and come on, a Freaking Dedicated Poi Studio!

Aiya! I stop checking this place for a while and first thing, someone asks me a question! In response to said question, Afraid not. I have some friends I'm trying to teach but no one I know actually does this kind of stuff.
Who knows, maybe we should meet up!

Is it hot in here, or was I just engulfed in flames?

Yeah! Without a doubt!
We want people to spin with. biggrin

IA- yeah, I think it's a trip we're going to make. Nick's a guy I really want to meet, and spin with.
He's got a really unique style, which I love- it looks beautiful on him.
Have you done much spinning with him?

Yex- no, we're not in Calgary yet.
Spitfire should be there anytime between now and April 1st (ish), and I'll be there about 2 weeks after that.

We're both still in Houston at the moment, and I've got to do my obligatory stint in the Uk, and get a new passport.

What are you gonna be up to in Calgary?

We don't know exactly where we're gonna be yet, until Spitfire's work send her the address.

What kind of performance thing are you doing?

I got roped into helping with the tech side if a play a group called summerstock is putting on. The meets are every friday (I'm sure you would be welcome to come, even if only to socialize.) and my friend treats me to sushi before we head over. How cool is that?

I live half way on the other side of the country wink I'm 2/3 provinces over (depends if you're counting from BC or Alberta) but if I'm ever out that way I'll half to hook up with you guys and Nick! U of Alberta looked pretty good before, but even better now wink

Mugetzu- that's cool. So, you're doing tech side, not spinning fire? wink

Yex- well have fun in Calgary this time round (if you go). No doubt we'll both be there at the same time during another holiday season? biggrin

IA- phhhhfffff! to being half way on the other side of the country! Get ya ass out travelling boy! wink
Well, actually, wait till we get there first. biggrin

Actually, I just found out from Spitfire that we're not going to be up there as soon as we hoped. We're at the mercy of her company, and it's all just been put back a step. frown
So, soon but not as soon as we would like. angry

Well, there's no hope for us being there at Easter anyway. We just had a bit of a setback, and we're not sure when we'll be up there now.
We'll keep banging our heads against this wall and we WILL end up in Calgary.

At the moment, I'm heading back to the Uk on Sunday, as my maximum legal time in this country is about to expire. frown

No, I wasn't part of that group. I was the lone poi'ster from my group. I was downstairs all night in that back room where a few people were spinning. I had the poi with the bracelet glowsticks wrapped around a tennis ball and was wearing a white hat. I'm looking forward to 4:20, I've learned a couple new moves and have a new poi set.

grouphug I'm putting the invitation out there for anyone who wants to come to Motion Notion outdoor festival July 15-17 just outside edmonton here. It would be nice to get a bunch of spinners out from all over, though it is probably not big enough to attract too many people from the rest of the world - so thats why I'm posting here. I know they have fire performers - and maybe (cross your fingers) we could convince the organizers to let a few more spin fire (I think unsanctioned fire spinning might be a no no - though I'm not sure about that...i've never seen non-performer fire at this event before). Anyways, enough of that rambling, lol, you can check it online at www.motionnotion.com - i'm tired and can't think of how to make it a link (will edit later...). I can also help out with lodging and such - though I'll be in Jasper for July, so maybe a trip to the mountains is in order ubbrollsmile Hopefully some of ya will come out.

This thread is a *perfect* example of the saying in Halifax...

'The world dies east of Montreal'.

I'll be back in Halifax in late July. Immortal Angel, I'll probably be in Georgetown late August to visit my Grandma - when I get exact dates, we should have a spin! Georgetown can't be *that* big now, can it? *Hasn't been there for... 4 years...*

But yeah, there's a few spinners here and there in Halifax, and I got two buddies (poor guys...) stuck up in Newfoundland. We all seem to congregate in Halifax on the waterfront for the 2 week Halifax International Busker Fest, which a bunch of us practically LIVE for each year. see: www.buskers.ca

The spinning community is Halifax, is, in my opinion, one of the youngest. I mean, age wise. Most all of us are still teens, and only a couple in Uni, or over 20 ubblol But I don't know if much has been happening in Hfx since Sept... My guess is not much! Aah, well!

Can't wait to get back to Can. in ca. 3 months! Wooo!

biggrin I'd love to spin with you Bobo! Hopefully I can get a few more people interested in the scene over the summer, I'm working on starting some sort of regular meetings out in a local park in Georgetown South (Which is expanding exponentially right now, we've got a second A&P going in :O) But nah, not too big otherwise, more of the same biggrin
