I was at Fuji House (Japanese Restaurant in Tulsa OK) with a bunch of friends and they decided I looked like Jason Lee, better known as Brody in the movie "Mallrats." So it became a quake handle my freshman year of Uni and died out over time.

Well then I go to an old friend's birthday party (friend who changed Uni's on me back in the day) and he still remembered me as "Brody." He introduces me to the group (about 90% Japanese girls) and they all start screaming "BRODY!!!" so I took my mantle back up once again to fight evil. Guess I should thank Kevin Smith and the island of Japan for this one

My name comes from my absolute love for the Chalice Well in fair glastonbury. A site of wonder, magic, fairies, elementals, light, illumination, blessings... it goes on, and on... you get the idea. I'm a crab by nature - being a cancerian n all, I've always had a great affinity for water... then one day it just popped into my head! And it seems to fit

The drome was a beautiful (for us) venue in which I spent many enlightening intoxicated nights.
It also happens to be the place where my spirit was trully born. It meant and still means a lot to me.

The pixie part is because I recently discovered I am a pixie. Not many people have seen me in my most pixiest form but its there and waiting to really come out!

So I am the pixie who came from the drome or dromepixie. Hasnt quite stuck yet but I think I'll start introducing myself as drome I really like it!

Much love, drome

after about 15 minutes andy flipped and started shouting out 'the mind gap, gap the mind....' etc. in a very earnest manner directly at the increasingly confused and worried commuters.

surely your true name is known only to yourself, if you choose to share it then good, but to say people are not 'ready' until someone else (who) tells them so....

eeeerrrm. probably, but i wouldn't use it to define whether i had passed from newbie to ready. ready for what? poi as we know it is not a mystic martial art, some people are content with knowing 1 move. should you hold that against them because you don't feel they are part of some tribe which requires naming?

should we carry this on privately?

my real name is cole.
which was shortened from my great grandfather's name 'coleman'.

my friends began calling me coleman about 3 years ago with no knowledge of this.

now lots of people call me coleman - on this board and elsewhere.

i feel i am 'ready' for this name (whatever that might mean ) and will not be looking for another one. yet it has nothing to do with firetwirling apart from the obvious connection that it is my name and i am someone who spins poi.

Mine comes from a good friend of mine Jimmy.
He was the one to teach me how to fire-twirl and I have unbelievable amounts of respect for the person he was - he passed away in 2002 and I miss him tonnes.
He liked the name PyroTech and used it a bit with fire stuff so I took it on after he died as a comfort at first, now it's stuck...

"Chimera": 1. Fire-Breathing Monster, a female fire-breathing monster in Greek mythology, typically represented as a combination of a lion's head, goats body, and serpent's tail.
"chimera" 1. Something totally unrealistic or impractical a figment of the imagination.

I've no idea why people call me Chimera but the name has been with me for longer than I'd like to admit.

i know this is from my intro page but i cant b arsed to recount the story AGEN!!!

I got the name when i was once outside Feet First in Mornington Cresent, Camden area waiting to get in, when 2 girls infront of me asked for a flyer bcoz they had lost theirs. So i handed one over, being nice polite me. I'd seen them at other clubs before but never spoken to them. One of them asked if i was still going out with Bryony (i wasnt, id already been dumped) and how did i manage to pull "the queen dyke of North London" i said i just didn't know about her rep, and went for it anyway.
Anyway the bouncers were being really harsh that night, and one of them was worried she wouldnt get in. She turned to me and asked "what am i gona do if i dont get in?" to which i replied:
"no sweat, ill just tell the bouncer your my Lesbin Lover and they'll have to let you in!" from there we started a great convo bout god knows wot.

Later that night, i saw the same girl (name of Emily) being harrased by some random dude. So i cooly walked over to her, put my arm round ehr waist and uttered the immortal line
"Er, excuse me mate, do you mind? This is my Lesbian Lover" and dragged her to safety, since then, all her mates started to call me Lesbian Lover (or Lesbo, or even THE Lesbian), and then everyone bar my best mates are calling me it!

so thats how i hav my name. Its nothing against dykes, or me being machoistic, or even choevenistic (i know thats not right, but my only big word is ontological). See rozi, im not all evil

joi,

my name is a contraction of several nick names,

the first part stands for emmanuel wich is my real-life first name, aas emmanuel is to long to shout, my friends called me E or Manu, and since too many people make ridiculous jokes with my name and a well-known soft porn series, i converted readily to manu.

the second part stands for "the incredibly hairy troll" which was first simply troll, as i was called by some fairy loving friends because of my despise for fairy loving, hippy- friends.

the incredibly hairy part followed after a set that i played at an open air party, I just came back from 1 week no-border camp in strassbourg, and i hadn't shaven in 2 weeks, afterwards photographs started appearing showing a large, hairy creature behind the turning tables

an other nickname is kropotkin, after the well known anarcho-troublemaker, and which is also the name of my character in several role-playing games
