hey guys, i was thinking about making some flags (dom style of course), and was wondering how well they work outside?
i would imagine in the wind they would go all over the place, but i've been wrong before =]
i want something new to do on the beach (where there is alot of wind)
Lights dancing off my skin as chains wrap round it.
Pain is in a little box and I'm so glad I found it.

They are a problem in windy situations. With a bit of wind you can just do all your moves with the spin planes perdendicular to the poi, but with a lot fo wind it's no fun.

lol they whip you in the eye and makes it water for ages, then it just goes red for a while

i've been looking for a while about flags... what about the "classic" flags? the style you just hold in the fabric? what size should they be? and where can you get then?

i bought mine of HoP,
but when i save up Miss BamBam said she'd talk to perdy for me to see if she could make me a pair
the HoP flags feel strange when you spin them at first, cause there is almost no weight, but you get used to it.

Ayeperloops an' Ayr raps are lovely with flags.
They make are sort of Lotus flower style pattern.

I recently bought some spiral poi. Theyre basically silk flags attached by one corner. But the beauty of them is that whilst spinning theyre like normal tails but you can grab a corner and turn them into flags......... wow. Has anyone ever heard of them???

yey someone else has seen them aswel *smiles* aint they great. theyre so fluid for throws and body wraps. But im scared of spinning mine but theyre to beautiful to rip or get dirty.
But on the making flags, my friend made some which were rlealy nice. He got a square bit of material, sew rice along an edge for some weight and on one of the weighted corner attach some finger holds. simple as that. or so the theory is!

haha hey dont worrie your flags cant possibly get as dirty as my tail poi have, Ive been spinning them in the farmyard so they have gotten coverd in chicken poop. I hope I can wash it off lol

I bought a really beautiful pair from a place in Camden, they're white gauzy triangles with solid white edging and really have weights >,< the number of times I've clocked myself while spinning reverse 5 beat is quite silly.

So any info on making my first set of Flags? I really want to make a set and not buy them.. If i can laern it well enough I hope to make a pair with one being a Canada Flag, the other being a USA Flag.. I think that would be sweet!

Usually flags are too big to work with easily at normal size. I just attached the flags to my extraweighted cone poi with split rings, they were really hard work.
A Durbs should give you some flagmaking threads. If no luck PM me and I will try explain my way.
