As the mess of stories concerning the last weekend slowly surface, it becomes increasingly clear that the central theme of these weekends is not actually spinning whatsoever; rather it is sex. Maybe I'm putting that too baldly, but the heady mess of tension that seems to have been running like an undercurrent through the course of the last weekend (which completely passed me by at the time) must surely have been its defining focus.

Therefore it is only right that the next weekend should be set over Valentine's day. If the last one was sordid and confused... let's see what new heights we can achieve with this one. Forget Jennifer Steele - I'm going to book a priest for the duration, and see what happens...

For those of you who didn't make the last weekend, but have maybe seen the jelly wrestling video... I'm not being entirely serious. Though we may never know quite how many clandestine pairings took place during those brief hours of darkness... we did also do quite a lot of spinning. Essentially, the format for the weekend is this - loads of spinners turn up during the course of the week, with the majority arriving on Friday (that'll be Friday the 13th - oh dear!), and then stay for the weekend. We go and spin in the park nearby, or head up to the sports hall to spin indoors to music (with loads of toys - balance bars, crash mats and trampolines!). Apart from that, there are missions, baked goods, laptops, videos, vegetarian food and the opportunity to get to know a whole load of the other HOPers. And 'get to know' can be as euphamistic as you like...

As per usual, I'll post more details nearer the time... blah di blah, see the other threads for info if you want it now. The major change this time is that I will be asking everyone for a fiver - this will go to buying all the paraffin and renting the sports hall and swimming pool, and if there's any spare it's earmarked for the Get Pounce To Kent Fund, on which we're still about £120 short.

Quite how we're going to beat the jelly wrestling is a bit of a mystery, however. We need some madcap scheme, preferably one both dangerous and illegal, so if you have any suggestions please post them below.

And come down for the weekend, all of you. It'll be a riot.

hug

greetings from toyko everybody! wave i will start a wee thread in intros soon to tell you my travel stories so far.

anyhow - just realised i never told you all my money making plans and i did say i would help with the next party if possible despite not being there ubbcrying

So - has anyone seen the film Ratrace? Basically John Cleese`s character owns a casino in Vegas and he and his rich buddies make bets on really hilarious things that everyone would want to put money on, and whoever wins gets it all of course.. but to raise money for something, you could take half the `winnings` and put it towards that cause - be it a poi party scheme or adopt a penguin scheme or a make frodo happy scheme, whatever.

I would tell you my ideas but i really think one of you should just go watch the film and see what i mean! my fave was when they hired a prostitute and asked her to do the weirdest stuff, and they had made bets on how much she would charge to do it all... and they were all scattered round the room hiding behind curtains and stuff listening in.. ubblol

I will try and be online valentines weekend so please have the computer on Joe, so i can say hullo to you all biggrin

bye bye, back soon.... wave hug kiss hug wave

well, being originally from Texas, I clearly can't side with anything refered to as "the North", what with that civil war we had in the states 140 years ago or so, which means I clearly have to ride with the south - so long as no one calls me "yankee" that is (them's fightin' words to a southerner).

Yes, to be fair, although it's going to be a good weekend, and we are all good people, your mother has no way of knowing this, there are too many people missing after going off to meet 'friends they met on the internet' already.

No matter how old you are you'll always be your parents' 'baby'... I'm 22 but will always be about 12 in their eyes rolleyes smile. She'll come around, but it may take longer than the time till Kent. Maybe start off with some day events rather than a whole weekend, at a public venue rather than a stranger's house, so she can see that these are fine and start to relax. It will be a shame if you can't go, but knowing Joe it will only be a matter of time until Kent IV! It just means we'll have to wait a little longer to meet you frown

Virtually everyone has embarassing/over protective parents and for all the lovely people online there are some complete weirdos out there (looks around, at no one in particular). There's no more online than there are in the offline world, but they can be harder to spot and by the time you meet them at a complete strangers house it can be too late. Parents have been known to be bought along to clapham before and no one cares/will look down on you, we all understand the situation (plus smoking is so much more fun when you hafta hide behind bushes again to avoid getting caught by adults! biggrin).
