okay lets try this again... i colaberated with a kite guy by putting a couple glownecklaces on his kite. one of thos oriental trick kites... well i have since put some on a kite of mine and night flying is somewhat fun but nothing in comparison to the patterns made that one night... does any one have suggestions as to a type of kite that would sustain the weight of heavy glowstick(s) and still manuver???

(Hee, hee, if at first you don't succeed...)Well, those two handled kites that you can control are pretty dang easy to keep in the sky IF the wind is strong but they do need a fairly constant wind. I'd assume you'd want those too, to get the pretty patterns of light in the sky...

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

find a book on kite making and go hard....i remember making some pretty gnarly kites as a kid, simple to make and not as hi tech as some, but still good for the old loop the loop and some fast hedge hopping!!

You could try making two aerobatic kites with glowstick on the tops,.You and a freind would have to bash them together to get the glowsticks glowing...Judst be very very careful not to tangle the strings,... smile(ps, this is a joke, i'm not that keen on kitewars the movie just yet)------------------Charles (INFERNO)newdolbel@hotmail.comhttps://juggling.co.nz

They make special lights for night flying for stunt kites. I have a set for one of mine. smile They're little LED's that are attached to plastic clips that you clip to the leading edge of the kite. It's run off a 9V battery that straps to the center pole. Around here, it's hard to fly, but at the beach it's awesome! The guy I usually get my kite stuff from was showing me those lights, so I had to get me some. He had a video of one of his night flights. He was doing good, then all of a sudden, *poof*, no lights. He didn't secure the battery good 'n it fell out into the ocean. He called it "stealth mode". wink------------------Deuteronomy 31:6John 15:9

Pretty much any modern 2 or 4 line kite with a wingspan 6-8ft should lift gloow sticks fine.4 liners like the old Rev 1.5 is sweet.the pig is that when your night flying, you really cant see the lines so if you get them into a mess.. well make sure you got a good torch.(typing very quietly so the chidren can't hear)

I have a dual line stunt kite with a wingspan between 5'or6'and I used to put 6" glowsticks on it all the time. My kite has standoffs at the bottom of the wings and I just stuck them through the holes in the glowsticks. They stayed on just fine. Coolest thing about it was that when the kite stopped spinning, the glowsticks kept going. They make for a great light show at desert parties.Another way to attach them is if your kite has a removable frame with the velcro closures, you could put a keyring on the glowsticks and wrap the velcro around it.

i work in the one of the most successful kite shops in the UKand yeah u want a kite of at least 6' in size, a)cuz u need less wind to fly it and so its more fun in the long run and, b)cuz you then get enough lift to pull them easilyto check out some kite look at www.kitestore.co.uk you can order from there or look on the net as there is one big kite store ive seen in the USA, cant remember what it is called exactly, but 'wind' was part of the name, and youll know the site by the fluffy clounds on the backgroundoh and u either want a sport or a power kite...(power kites are more fun usually as the pull u all over the place at the same time)

this thread was deleted the first time around beause it focused on fire.

Please please don't do anything like this, and be aware that there are lotsof young kids who have access to and look at this site and are liable to trythings like this without supervision or an 'adult' sense of responsibility.not to mention the odd older person who also has no 'adult' sense ofresponsibility. Also keep in mind if a suggestion is put forward on this board thatseriously hurts or kills other people, or damages a lot of property, thereis the possibility that the site manager or moderators may feel responsibleand that we didn't do enough to keep this board a serious and safe source ofideas and socialising. It sounds tough guys, but there are thousands of people who read this BB,and only a few hundred who post regularly. Sometimes it is easy to think that we are the onyl one reading thesethreads. the concept of just one of those people's kites getting loose (just cozit hasn't happened in the past doesnt mean it won't happen the future) givesme the creeps. A little candle and some paper is fine, but a kite with actual fuel storedon it would turn into a floating bomb, that could escape the "safe" area andland on a road/vehicle/boat/child/house. Hell, it might even hit awindsurfer or swimmer in the ocean. I'm talking about a heavy wick coated flaming bomb BTB not a little paperthing that won't burn for more than 10 seconds... At the risk of incurring wrath of any HoP Members, I'm going to close thisthread, and then delete it, as I've had the go ahead from the other mod's.I'm also going to send an email to Phuzz apologizing for my actions. This is not intended as an attack at all, merely a mistrust of how this infowill be used by other irresposible elements.
please dont mention fire again in this thread.
