So I put this in the social chat, figure it probably falls under the category of daftness laugh3

Anyway, I'm about to have a little adventure. I'm quitting my job, selling all my stuff, and going to Guatemala.
I've already put in my notice at work, been packing and selling some stuff. Driving to Oregon first to give my truck to my sister, then flying out from there.
I'll be leaving with nothing but a passport, plane ticket, poi bag, and a change of clothes. Most likely after everything is paid for I'll have a few hundred dollars in my pocket. Best part is, I have absolutely no plans to come back grin
I'm going to go with nothing and make it work.

I've thoroughly weighed the pros and cons of this adventure. I'm going.
Anybody that wants to keep up with this craziness. I'll try and post here occasionally, but Facebook is going to be the best way.

Awesome!! Getting up and going somewhere is the most awesome thing in the world, and if you can do it with a teeny, tiny bag then your life is all the better smile

WHAT! Who gets the disco ball!

Also, Everyone if you're sceptical about the adventures of Jared and feel the need to be charitable...you can send care packages to be held in Guatemala City for him.

You can have the disco ball. There is a catch though grin
When you go to some kickass party out in the sticks, you got to take the disco ball camping. laugh3 That thing has been everywhere.

Well it's finally that time.
I just decided today that I was done trying to make plans and all, kinda defeats the purpose anyway. So I'm quitting the new job tomorrow, garage sale this weekend, then I'm out.
My camera is broke so there won't be any pics for a while, but I'll check in occasionally and give an update on my progress.

'Jared's adventure' status update:

Jared left his parents house in Oklahoma today and sent me a text when he was passing through Kansas on the way to Oregon.

Back for a short while. Like RC said, I went to Oregon.
Liked it up there so I stayed a while, figured it was a good trial run too. After I don't know how many days in a tent, had no reason to care what day it was, I have to say I love it.

Was a fairly smooth trip, had everything I needed to survive and keep my things in order. Spent countless days barefoot in the sun spinning in the mountains, a valley of sage, a 100'+ pine tree that had fallen on the lake. Good times.

Finally got a little cold for me, sleeping bag froze to the tent one too many times lol, so I worked a few little odd jobs to get back here. Now I'm selling my truck and off to do it again in Guatemala!

It had crossed my mind briefly once before but I didn't want to rush to judgement. I thought I would just call it and see what happened.

Where's my disco ball? tongue2

It got left behind in Arlington. Had a bit of a rough start on this trip and after the garage sale was almost a total failure, I put a few things in the truck and just drove off.

Whole house full of stuff just sitting there. Clothes, bed, appliances, furniture, books, damn near everything. All that really sold was a table, my tv, and the washer. I just didn't want to mess with it anymore, hanging around to sell stuff was actually costing me money.

Landlord had probably claimed everything by now, think they only have to hold it for a month. That's cool though, I wasn't aware that she would have to pay my past due utilities before she could rent the house again so hopefully that and my deposits make up for it. I didn't even bother going to get them either. I quite literally just packed up one morning and drove off.

Well it was probably the only way it was going to happen. Now you need to get Xterradacyl sold off and get the heck out of The Great Harlot or at least Lawton.

Not in Lawton, I'll never live there again. Out in the country east of Chickasha. Will be selling the truck soon, just hanging onto it long enough to go see a few people around here and drive some stuff to Lawton to sell.

It could all be done in a week if I wanted to, but since I have no schedule at all anymore, I'm just not in that big of a hurry. I'll go to Lawton in a few days, then spend a few days traveling around, then I'll put the truck up for sale. I had it sold in Oregon less than a week after posting it, but the rental car company that gave me a quote for about $300 total, decided to be bitches and change it to over $500, before all the insurance, taxes, deposits, and the greedy bastard fees. So I just told them to stick it and drove the truck back.

I don't understand how people can ever stay in business like that. Instead of honoring their quote and making $300, they lied and made nothing. Doesn't seem like a good business plan to me.

I'm not sure why I thought you were in Lawton. The Holy Wichita's are nice though.

Hopefully, you'll get heaps of money out of your stuff and truck.

Car rental companies are greedy bastards! National is the worst!

I doubt I get heaps of cash from it, but surely enough for a plane ticket.
Good enough for me lol
