Not having a clue who this was, I did the usual and googled. The most interesting thing seems to be that the Germans wanted to arrest him!
Quoth Wikipdeia:
In 2002, a warrant for his arrest was issued in Germany (English version), with a €3000 reward offered.

Never mind the music, what's THAT about!

IN order to avoid contact with gainful employment I followed this up to find:

Since 2002 he is wanted by the police, because he is suspected to have had sexual contact with children in more than 100 cases.

Lost interest in his music round about then.

Wouldn't want to meditate on music that a (suspected) child abuser has written... If innocent he should face the authorities and get this resolved...

I was just thinking that!

Charles, I'm sorry if I have caused potential trouble for HoP by bringing attention to those allegations.

I am not familiar with his music, so I can't say that I could have advised anything useful to the original poster. In which case I accept I could have better stayed out of it.

It's quite an interesting point really, whether what you know about musicians affects your enjoyment of their music or not...

but perhaps best dicussed in another thread without a name at the top of it....

well i happen to like world-ambient music - I have a 1-2 hour DJ set for parties that don't involve full-powah smile
if u like his album tibetiya, there is not alot of ambient metarial out there that incorporate himalayan samples.

icewarrior, i can recommend u some artists if you're into downtempo/world music. Nintin Sawnhey, Talvin Singh & Gotan Project for lushly downtempo with mid-east / indian / spanish flavour (respectively)

can we *please* keep on-topic about the music, yes?

No but he was around at the time when NME declared anything remotely Asian to be en vogue in the mid 90s along with Cornershop...

dead can dance is a bit more a tribal flavour of downtempo. try them also. Lisa gerrard sings for DCD and is featured on some lushly tracks on the Gladiator original sound track...
