Hello everyone and welcome to PLAY FESTIVAL 2007!!

Please forgive me for the lack of info, I have no computer to use and it'll be a few weeks more until I'm able to update it more often. I'll come back and put more up as and when I can.

Hopefully most of this info you'll have gotten from our newsletter, if not sign up to it on the website now! www.playfestival.co.uk

We had a wonderful 5 days last year and can only say that 2007 will be even better!

Thanks to everyone who came last year and who gave us feedback on what they thought of the festival, we've taken all comments on board and hope we can make the festival one that you'll enjoy even more than the last.

The dates for this years festival will be Wednesday 25th - Sunday 29th July and we will be at the same venue, Fordhall Farm in Market Drayton, Shropshire. The tickets will be £35 in advance and £40 on the door, that will include most workshops, 4 nights camping, the shows and other entertainments during the festival

We have lots planned for this years festival, more areas to play in with the emphasis on getting everyone involved, we will have a proper go at the world record after last years attempt didn't go so well (although it does look awesome on video!!!) and of course the usual abundance of workshops to keep you all busy in the day.

We'll have two stages this year, the main stage/tent and and nice little caberet tent, a solar powered cinema, a PROPER bar & food tent and a few more folks selling the stuff you want to buy (even if you don't realise it yet! heheh)

New for this year will be the PLAY HOP Amateur Performance of the year. It's a little competition we've come up with that can be entered by anyone for any type of performance. No more than 4 minutes long with a cash prize for the winner and the chance to feature on the next PLAY DVD. As you might guess from the title the event is sponsored by HomeofPoi.com (who have proudly given us the prizes for our games over the last two years). More details will follow soon...

The DVD of last years festival will be out at some point, probably exactly at the time we plan it to come out wink Focusing more on spreading knowledge to learn the arts than the last DVD and we're sure it'll knock your socks off!

If you want to contact us about anything please email us at one of the following addresses:

info@playfestival.co.uk

comments@playfestival.co.uk

volunteers@playfestival.co.uk

traders@playfestival.co.uk

If anyone wants specific footage from last years festival please wait until after the DVD is out, Strugz & co are busy enough editing the full thing to start making cuts for people! Thanks smile

As my internet access is sporadic at best till my pc is up and running, I might not be able to reply to email straight away, if you want to talk to me about anything call me on 07814 018091 and if you don't get an answer LEAVE A VOICEMAIL!

Keep checking the website for the latest information and we'll send out newsletters as often as we can.

hugs & smiles

Dunc hug

Awesome PLAY organiser type peoples!

Joe Driscoll was a total highlight for me, the big dome was amazing for his set, excellent vibes to the place!

Was good to meet a good few of you, but didn't meet as many as I'd have liked. frown Oh well, always next year!

Anyone dared ask about a DVD from this years event yet ? wink

I dont think my bum has ever been so numb! ubblol

I had an amazing time and want to thank all the organizers and all the people who made it what it was for me.

Apologies for those who caught my emotional outbursts. A sobing girl on your shoulder cant have been very fun when you're trying to enjoy yourself redface

Am sitting at home now with a cup of tea and a bacon sandwich listening to chill out tunes and am already feeling the post-festival blues set in.

I'm at home by myself and it feels weird not to be around people.

Once again, thanks to everybody.

A big smiley thank you to all those from all different kinds of manipulation that gave me thoughts and inspiration to take away and work on.

Just got back to Oxford after an overly long drive, way too tired to go any further.

Mech - doh, too tired/spaced failed totally to make the mental 'mech is driving G connection' when G came said goodbye, real sorry I failed to see you off frown

Also Rob (bluecat) & Ros, you'd gone on a nature walk when we decided to finally go, and LazyAngel and WingedAvenger managed to miss you too frown
hug hug thanks loads for everything all of you.

I met tons of people I know this year, and very few I previously didn't, probably failed to re-meet a few I'd only bumped into briefly before and may not have recognized.

It was a fantastic week despite the occasional weather worries, I really can't help but find it so strange it's all over so fast, especially as I was there from Monday.

Awesome shows, fantastic people, still couldn't buthelp miss the chocolate tree though tongue

Big thanks to all involved in the organisation of PLAY 2007. I for one had an amazing time - I just wish I'd been less ill last week so I could've joined you all for the full 5 days frown

Some fantastic live music, amazing fire shows, learnt a few new moves and tidied up a few old ones. It was awesome to see my toys up there in the renegade and the reaction from the crowd when we were waiting for the fire show on Friday seemed fairly positive! Does anyone have any footage of the first renegade on Wednesday? Is the DVD ready yet? wink

Finally, thanks to everyone I spoke to - it was lovely to see you all again biggrin

Peace and hugs to you all! hug ubblove

Otherwise that was bloody fantastic. biggrin biggrin biggrin Not even the odd but heavy bouts of rain managed to dampen the spirits. In the case of Chimera, it added to the elemental aura! (I’m sure the performers thought differently)

T’was nice to see everyone again and meet new people. Especially the foreigners... tongue

The shows were worth the admission price alone! Mmmmm Maths.... ubblove

Cheers to anyone to made time outside of workshops to teach me stuff.

More thanks on the way as I am now at work frown angry

Right...where to start...

First off, thank you all for coming - for a couple of weeks before Play we were really in the poo, we'd lost a massive tent we'd had planned and had sold 175 fewer tickets than we thought.
But you all came through and the field(s) of smiles all round the site, all through the day was wicked to see.

To anyone who ran a workshop (and I think only about 8 out of 75 didn't run!!) a massive "Thank You" - i didn't quite expect so many to run, nor them to be so well attended! So thank you also to those who went to learn stuff and make the teachers feel wanted wink (Oh, apologies about the lack of "How to do the Robot" workshop, projection failed me - go to www.howtodotherobot.com - that's pretty much it wink )

Big hugs to Dunc, Rob and Strugz (where ever he may be...) for being generally more organised than me smile

Huge, enormous uber-hugs for all the volunteers, especially the guys with us from Monday - it already feels like a lifetime ago arriving after dark in the field, putting up the dome to sleep in and wandering around laying water pipes biggrin (Thistle-pickers especially deserve a special mention).
Tom, Mike, Fraser, Jake - Boo ya, you rock.

All those in the shows - top jobs all round, and thank the rest of you for being such a wicked audiance. I for one was bricking it backstage before my poi solo (Having lost both routine tracks i'd already worked out, and chosen that tune with 10 minutes to go and not actually listening to it once) but you all cheered in the right places and it was fun smile

Thank you for supporting the traders too, the café especially were a little nervous after Weds and Thurs, but all of the traders have reported back saying they had a wicked time and are looking forward to next year biggrin

Finally, i've heard several people comment on it and it really is true - a huge thank you to you all for being such a wonderfully tidy lot.
Whether you were one of the many who helped litter pick on Sunday, or just kept the site generally clean throughout the week, you do yourselves proud.

So, all-in-all no major injuries (well, not to any one important), the weather wasn't as bad as it could've been and great fun was had by all biggrin
Pretty much a success I'd say wink

Maybe next year i'll be able to go to some of it ubblol
