Okay, okay, I've got one. For anyone who missed the misadventures of the newly dubbed "Firefox" or "Pyro Slinky," I've got a great one. I ran down to the junkyard to get my friend, Wil, to make me some mock fire fans to practice with. After the discussion of what we were making, his mechanic friend and seeming girlfriend had some great gems of comments.

Girl : "So..... is this for some kind of experiment or something?"

Mechanic : "Uh.... and how are you going to light these on fire again?"

Wil : "She's one of those..... those pyros. Yeah, she's a pyro..... *looks at me* right?"

Mechanic : "You have some thrill issues."

There were better comments during the conversation about how to make the fans, but they mostly stemmed from me suddenly drawing a five minute blank on the word "rod" when it came to building materials. So, we'll just omit those stupid moments, because they're all my own fault. =/

Needless to say that i have since instigated a safety word.

Heh. The French call it "esprit d'escalier" - roughly 'Staircase wit', or something you think of as you walk away from a situation.

Sorry, off-topic...

It might be a bit off topic but I think that is a very interesting fact, and thanks for it! ubbrollsmile

You kidding?! People are asking because you never seem to get any better :P

I need to spin more, clearly... Have I mentioned the time I got my picture taken by two traffic wardens, while I was spinning in a park in Preston...

Eww, Liza Minelli...

Someone asked me the other day when I was spinning my poi:

"Do you do that with people?"

I imagined trying to spin some fully grown men on the end of chains around my person - but all I could visualise were blood covered faces and much screaming. tongue

Apparently she meant something like, meeting up with people and spinning, etc.

But I prefer my interpretation!

Now what makes me a geek? confused Personally, I do not know, aside from the chase which is 2 beats, if it is possable or not to do an even numbered weave. I am sure it is possable. ubbidea

Though what does it really matter? Untill the move is actually achieved, or something close to it, I do not think that it makes much sense to argue over a single digit ubbloco. Mainly I was just trying to get a point across, not to emphasize a poi-litically weavesmiley (that is an interesting word) correct statement.

Security guy an an Astral Phoenix party. The party had ended, the lights were on, and the only people still on the dancefloor were poi and staff spinners.

"thats the girl with those awesome balls" This one is a little embarasing when people shout it loudly. in a busy place.

then all kinds of interesting questions about how does it work, and most amusingly "yeah, but whats the trick to it?" after random person smacks themselves after "can i have a go" and is convinced it cant be as easy as it looks!!

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups, I once had a group of tourists come past me and tell me that contac tjuggling is easy, there's a magnet inside the ball and one in his sleeves (on this particular occasion I wasn't wearing a shirt, so I don't know where they got sleeves from) Needless to say when they tried the balls went rolling all over the place and one of them managed to fall over thrying to do a chest roll from leaning too far back.

Moon landing? trying to make a connection but not even I can do it.

Yeah, I was pretty confused, too. I had been attempting to spin and contact juggle pretty much anything in the shop, and having a conversation about how the basic concepts of both were firmly rooted in Newtonian physics. The other mechanic just popped up and asked in the middle of the conversation if we thought the moonlanding was fake.

.... and that somehow digressed further into a conversation about whether or not Texas was the most badass state for having Texas Liberation Day....

Yeah. It was an interesting night.

Yeah, it's on the beach

And BTW I wasn't calling you a geek /geek is mock html (in itself very geeky), suggesting that I was at the end of my own outburst of geekness.

Point_Blank: I have gotten the magnet thing while contact juggling as well, I was also wearing a sleeve-less shirt ubbloco...though I never watched someone actually fall over doing a body roll...that would be hillarious to see though lolsign
