Isaac Hayes has quit "South Park," where he voices Chef, saying he can no longer stomach its take on religion.

Hayes, who has played the ladies' man/school cook in the animated Comedy Central satire since 1997, said in a statement Monday that he feels a line has been crossed.
"There is a place in this world for satire, but there is a time when satire ends and intolerance and bigotry towards religious beliefs of others begins," the 63-year-old soul singer and outspoken Scientologist said.
"Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored," he continued. "As a civil rights activist of the past 40 years, I cannot support a show that disrespects those beliefs and practices."
"South Park" co-creator Matt Stone responded sharply in an interview with The Associated Press Monday, saying, "This is 100 percent having to do with his faith of Scientology... He has no problem — and he's cashed plenty of checks — with our show making fun of Christians."
Last November, "South Park" targeted the Church of Scientology and its celebrity followers, including actors Tom Cruise and John Travolta, in a top-rated episode called "Trapped in the Closet." In the episode, Stan, one of the show's four mischievous fourth graders, is hailed as a reluctant savior by Scientology leaders, while a cartoon Cruise locks himself in a closet and won't come out.
Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."

Any fundementalist Christian who does something violent thus can't be a fundementalist Christian...
What a great cop out.

After much consideration, I find that the view is worth the asphyxiation.

I may disagree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

What right do you have, Patriarch, to judge who is Christian and who is not? "Judge not, lest thou be judged" etc etc etc. You can justify more or less anything (Including genocide, murder and slavery) with the Bible. What makes you such a better Christian than anyone who instead of rolling with the blow decides to get even? A la "Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth"?

And Jeff, think of doctors who do abortions being attacked... luckily Christian violence is getting less, but it still exists.

However, a Scientologist who responds to a slap with a lawsuit is, as far as I can tell, not violating a fundamental tenet of Scientology.[/quote
Given the number of lawsuits that the Church of $cientology throws at people, I would almost argue that the lawsuit is a sacrament.

There are contradictions galore in the fundamentals of christianity. By sticking to one you break another. So how can anyone be a fundamentalist christian?
Turning the other cheek is not a fundamental part of what most people view as 'christianity' anyway. How are promoters of ID, pro-life groups, street preachers (I could go on but it hardly seems worth it) in any way 'turning the other cheek?
If they were to act by what you see as a 'fundamental of christianity' they would let everybody get on with their lives the way they see fit.

If you want to slap someone and get away with it, slap a fundamentalist Christian, not a Muslim or a Scientologist.
