To be honest, those things look pretty rubbish, it's just a stick on a string isn't it, or am I missing something important here?

According to that site, the mother of all yo tricks is to have it dangling on the end of the string while you whirl it around your head - that doesn't sound too impressive to me.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

compare with the description of poi from hop's "what is poi?" page:

"Poi" is the Maori word for "ball" on a cord.

Yeah, but we get two poi as standard smile

Also, we don't try to pretend that waving just one of them around your head is incredably hardcore and fantastic.

I admit that you could in theory do some cool stuff with them, but nothing that you couldn't do better with a different toy, like a standard yo yo which also has loads of extra possibilities for more cool stuff.

could look cool I reckon. If you had two of them, they glowed and you did loads of whirling dervish stuff with them... oh wait that's just like poi :P

seriously though, I think if you had the ends glowing you could make some pretty patterns with them: like poi only with them either spinning or straight, giving two visual variations on the same move..

or if you made them long, put wicks on the ends and used a bit of bungee instead of thin elastic, you would have a lovely new toy smile

well, when i say 'new', i mean the 'been done years ago' kind of new... wink

I think people should put warnings on their threads if there is audio on the website that they link to..

I clicked that link,
stopped the office from working,
and alerted everyone to the fact im not doing any work...

I saw a better version of this down at Falmouth. Bungie-staff. A fire-staff, with bungie cords. Awww yeah... looked killer. smile

The existance of flamethrowers says that someone, somewhere, at sometime said "I need to set that thing on fire, but it's too far away."

"Radical retraction action"

I saw that and thought of turtles. Then I thought it would be quiet nice to have a turtle on a retractable string. Then I thought you wouldn't need a string as its head is retractable. You could wedge a finger in its nostril or something.

Then I thought that was a bit silly..

Anyway. Here you can see a commercial for the mini yo-stick that lights up. You see a guy using 2...looks quite pretty..

I want one just so I can take it apart and see how it works.
