I just took a LOOOONG, hot shower, and in a fit of orgiastic bliss, smeared my entire body in moisturizing lotion.

I don't quite feel normal yet, but I'm getting there.

OK... Reasons BRC rules (listening Glasto fans?):

1) The group of EL-wire stick-figures walking around the playa at night.
2) The large amounts of fire. (You know you're at Burning Man when a 30-foot flame erupts behind you and you don't even turn around to look).
3) The fact that one can spin wherever one likes with no concerns about burning anything because there's nothing to burn (just stay away from structures).
4) The fact that you are on a perfectly flat plane in all directions. It's quite otherworldly.
5) Nobody in jeans and hoodies.
6) Nakedness.
7) Enormous lasers shooting amazing patterns in the playa dust.
8) Fire tetrahedra (see my post in "technical).
9) The Carcass Wash at Poly Paradise
10) The massive flaming Angel of the Apocalypse (by the Flaming Lotus Girls)
11) The Thunderdome.
12) No mobile phone service.
13) The night sky.
14) The Temple.
15) The fact that every single project there was done by participants.
16) Paul Oakenfold AND DJ Tiësto spinning for free in the same place in three days.
17) Where else would you see a man in a dust mask and goggles, a bedoin-style headdress, a flowing cape, a hot pink bikini, and combat boots (of course...) zip past on a Segway scooter?
18) The ship I rode (Spanish galleon) across the desert.
19) Did I mention the large amount of fire?
20) In the same day I took 2 classes: one in staff twirling and one in male tantric masturbation.

Oh, and Jen Steele was there again, but unlike last year, she wasn't camped next to me. Instead, I had a camp of hot gay men from LA next to me. I know you straight boys will disagree, but I preferred this year's arrangement. biggrin

Pah.

I choose to ignore this thread...

The existance of flamethrowers says that someone, somewhere, at sometime said "I need to set that thing on fire, but it's too far away."

Sounds wicked (possibly including the neighbours...) and I'm delighted for you to get a bloody decent break from hospitals and all that goes along with it... Good on ya for making it out there! What structure/event etc did you get involve with? (I didn't check out the tetrahedra. yet..)

.....Can't juggle balls but I sure as hell can juggle details....

I've seen photos of PLAY and EJC and Glasto. I've gone to regional Rainbow gatherings.

BRC (Black Rock City, the name of the "portable" city at Burning Man) is just completely different. The philosophy is different, the organization is different, and the environment is DEFINITIVELY different! eek
