show me a staff twirler who can do this - on stage, cleanly and in time with the music

I don't think we have overtaken the baton twirlers for technical performance or presentation yet.
but we will smile

Lavatwilight: Halo - is the term for going over shoulder to shoulder from back of neck, usualy taught / learnt in the vertical plane......

Just lean forward man then do this move again, best way i could describe what im trying to do above really as your body position makes this happen when coming out of the matrix.............well for me anyway wink

Glass: Ive been watching them since Meg posted *awesome*, i agree weve got a long way to go and when we get there i think it will be far more interesting to watch than baton biggrin

How is your technical performance coming after all this time educating yourself in the dancing world? You looked ace a couple of years ago, id guess now that your not far off these guys already! ubbangel

ARGH!

Well, at least somebody can spell my name right.

Nice one Ry! biggrin

errrr.... Well the one thing I've been able to discern from these videos is that Annetta Lucero is the perfect woman.

so, after close perusal those guys are only ahead on the following:

acrobatics and flexibility
presentation
a few moves(not that many tho)

i slomoed all the contact sections and found there were about 6 moves i plain can't do, and about 4 that are a bit sketchy, and some that are plain hard cause of the speed you can get with a baton that you can't get with a five footer.
it just don't impress me as much as it used to. once again its the presentation and choreography thats miles ahead.
and as for doubles, i met a baton twirler last year(french team) who said there was noone who did doubles like i(and therefore many others) did.

i'll agree with drew: we're well behind n technique and presentation, but we will catch up and i think overtake, becaue we learn in a free environment: there is no wrong or right, and the people that are doing it are wwwaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyy more innovative cause its not competitive.

eg dave moseph took the contact illusion and put it into doubles and used it as a cross entry, which looks fuck1ng amazing, and i will bet big money no baton twirler has done it like that(why wouldn't you perform something harder and more beautiful than something that gets huge acclaim...)

anyhow.

also i reckon the dave should go in there

the dave being the spinny neck wrap stuff, continuous never ending

of course this would have to be for more than 100 complete staff rotations before it was to jedi standard

nah that's too easy, you'd want at least 50 one way, 50 the other, with complicated arm movements added into the move (arm movement that cross the plane of the staff) ten or twenty on the chestside (both ways) with a matrix transfer...

Then I might be impressed.

But I would definately be impressed if you could make it look good, and not like you're pre-op for a hunch-back removal operation. biggrin

well maybe not thematrix transfers however i was getting them cleaner today started learning them from uberstaff onwards

i can do alot both ways with a few different transfers and weird arm flailing plus some limbo-ing beat that and i'll be impressed

What, since December? ubblol

I agree with most (?) of the above, and I agree the baton twirlers have lots on us, but mainly that's down to their super-nippiness. Contact staff is more about slow control, and that opens up a lot of possibilities that aren't open to faster baton twirlers.

I think.
