As Valentine’s Day approaches I thought I’d regale my friends and fellow posters with an amazing but true tale of romance and love. I know that some of you know the story already but it’s a good one and I’m sure you won’t mind sitting though it again... “Once upon a time…” …through the magic of “Home of Poi” and the generosity of our host Malcolm, I met many wonderful friends. Directly and indirectly HoP has changed my life. It introduced me to fire. It exposed me to a world that I would have never seen before. HoP led me to Pele whose friendship started it all for me, and Nomad who I still owe a favor to for lending me his poi for my first burn. HoP allowed me to meet my close and wonderful fire friends in New York City whom have now formed a mellow fire troupe and spend most of my weekends. If this had been all, I’d still be indebted to this silly little website for all the joy it has brought me.But there’s just a bit more. As some of you may have guessed, I’ve fallen passionately, tenderly, and deeply in love with the most wonderful woman I have ever met. You all know her as Cassandra, and yes, we met on HoP. As fate would have it we’re thousands of miles away from each other but love conquers all. A few months ago, posts led to emails, emails to phone calls, and phone calls led to a wonderful Christmas together in Paris. Sure enough, my sweet little fire twirler will be blessing me with a visit this Valentine’s Day for a full week of fire twirling and romance. What about the future? We’ve already got plans for vacations and summers and soon enough my little raspberry will be joining me in the Big Apple. After that it’s up to us… Who knows what the future holds, but I’m sure it’s beautiful.Don’t worry kids, we won’t clog up the boards with too much PDA. That’s what emails, phone calls and cross Atlantic visits are for. wink Occasionally we have an “I can’t believe we met on HoP!” moment and giggle. I guess you never really know when you’ll meet your princess, for me it was this little gray and black website buried deep within the matrix. On behalf of my sweet Cassandra and I, a big public THANK YOU to all of those who contribute the warmth, friendship and love which drew us both to this board. Both our friends on here, and those who just add to the positive environment, have allowed HoP to become a valuable resource, outlet, escape, and community.Love to all those who’ve given us love and friendship, a Happy Valentine’s day to friends, families and lovers across the globe, and a big smooch to my sweetie.Oh yeah…“…And they lived happily ever after.”

Well, shall we go?
Yes, let's go.

I'd say I was envious, because cassandra is one of the sweetest people I've ever had the pleasure of communicating with and has an undeniable charm. But somehow I'm not envious at all, just very happy for her, and glad that NYC (whom I know less well) can make her so happy. The only problem is that she emails less often since Xmas, darn you NYC! Just joking (sort of) - that is mostly my fault since I'm realy busy these days. I've got my own long-distance relationship going right now (except it takes two months for a round trip communication between us since she has a remote posting in the peace corps), so I mean it when I say "good luck!" -v-

Yeah, I just got back from my "business" trip to Yosemite national park (in California) last night. Yosemite in winter is fantastic because almost no one else is there (at least on weekdays) and you can enjoy the beauty of the place with some measure of solitude, which is not possible any other time of year (the place is choked with tourists in summer). Especially amazing is being alone in a groove of anchient sequoia trees (giant redwoods), some of which are older than the pyramids in Egypt. -v-

Hey guys,I am having a pretty shitty day (sometimes, work just SUCKS) and those sweet and loving words made my day NYC. Dude, you don't owe me anything for having borrowed my poi. ...however, if you really insist, you can mail me a $200 check, that'll take care of it (I usually charge $100 per spin) smileI am very happy for both of you. I started exchanging emails with Cassandra in september I think, since she was the only one I could talk about Poi in French, my first language. We got to know each other and I thought she was the sweetest girl (obviously, like everyone else on this board I'm sure!). NYC I met back in June and indeed he spun fire with my chains for the first time (I hope that brought you luck and kept you burn-free). We got together several times since, both in Boston and in New York, even busked on Union Square together once. Needless to say (if someone disagrees here, raise your hand or shut up forever), he's a great guy.Well, what can be better than two people you love becoming lovers? I wish you the best of the best together, and I cannot wait to see you both Friday night.Let me take this opportunity to send a big hug to my princess (ki koro?) who will join me on Friday and who called me at work to tell me to look at this post.Aaaahh, life is beautiful smileNomad------------------A.N.T.H.E.L.I.O.Nwww.anthelion.org

Hey C@ntus,I never said that they "don't" work I merely said that they don't "often" work. And are always circumstances that break the rules. SO nerr.Anyway...*gives Cantus a scolding look* Glad to hear about you guys, I think that's a fantastic thing. Congratulations. So Cass, you going to turn NYC into a true romantic, so he's not so pessimistic of the world? winkHOP Rocks. smileNice one Bruva!FYI: Josh and I met at a pub, I was sitting at a table outside with a group of friends and I had my feet up on a chair. He walked past and asked if he could have the seat. I said "You can have it, but you have to use it here, it's not moving from this table" or somthing to that effect. So he sat down.....lots more to the story then that. But that's how we met. Life's full of surprises------------------ ~*~ Katinca ~*~

Hey guys, that is such a cool story, I am very happy for the 2 of you, NYC we havent had much post to post contact but I've liked nearly all of what you have had to say.Cassandra I cant think of a nicer person that I have met on this board. I hope you guys have a great time together in that large dirty city that NYC chooses to live in.If it gets too claustrophobic and you want to get away from it all come on down to my little town (Boston) for a day or 2. Your welcome to stay at my place, I think Nomad might make the same offer. Cheers!Code128
