If they are big enough you can contort yourself and use them like a skipping rope.

Im not sure if you could manage to actually make this look good though.

ever see those people who can hula hoop with like a billion hoops so it just looks like a weird non-conical tornado of hula hoop crazyness? There is hardly any space between the hoops to see the person underneath.

Missie, I used 4 x 2inch wicks (blobs of flame) on mine... makes it easy to handle.

Apparently, moving the hoop up and down your body simply means moving your body faster.

oh yeah
i figerd out how to move the hoop up your body
what you have to do is sort of push your pop your chest in and out so that the circular movement is coming form you sholders.

missie, your website design is excellent.
supa fast, totally clear, nav is readily accessible.
a bit more contrast with the green on white text and it's a rippa.

thanks for the lesson!

ok, so you sound pretty pro already, but heres some advice i picked up from NICA about hula hoop: its not a circular motion at all and should come entirely from your abs in a backwards/forwards motion. to move it up you do make it faster but move your chest in and out to pick it up from your stomach area, once its there, put one arm in and pump your other shoulder in and out. its easier for chicks cos once you get it over your boobs it stays up! as for other tricks, use your hands and feet, or check out elite level rhythmic gymnasts and ignore their flexibility!!
i was about to start my own thread but this one is fantastic, the links are great, thanks! what i was going to ask was...

does anyone know any other tricks you can do with fire hoop?? (i luv mine to bits but im stuck with up and down, hands and feet stuff...)

Thanks so much for posting this Missie! For some reason I never found any of these cool sites when I searched for hoop stuff like a year ago... Wish we were closer so we could hoop together, but good luck finding other hoopers where you are! I sent a friend to the workshops in santa Monica by Christabel from Circus Hoops and she had a great time. It's too far for me unfortunately but, she picked me up a hoop there and I'll pick it up this weekend so hopefully we can share some tricks here soon!!! I'd just spent about one month looking for the right kind of material for hoop making but they only sell it in 500 foot coils around here.. Maybe one day when I want to make a bunch!!! Anyway, thanks again and happy hooping!!!

Yes, I noticed the dates were pretty new on those sites.. I've been trying out some tricks that are pretty fun, I like to swing it up over my body once I've brought it up over my head.. then continuously swing it around your body down by your feet. jump into it and and give your wrist an extra twist as you push it back around your waist... SO glad I finally have a hoop!..

my nic is kelly - I joined just a couple of days ago. Very cool site.

yep the hoop can be made of plastic or metal beacuse the wick is attached to little spikes on the out side of the hoop

I did'nt buy mine i made them.
Check out the instructions on this web site they may help
https://www.jasonunbound.com/hoops.html

Also check out
hooping.org

All the circus hoopers i have met use hoops like this. just make sure you get tubing that is quite stiff. It is best to try stuff form an irigation supply store rather than the stuff from a hardware store(this stuff tends to be chepper but to flexible).

If you have any more questions feel free to pm me or leave a message here
