Posted: Hey everyone,
I'm really new to the poi scene and i've spent the last two days basically spinning in time, trying to build some resistance, get used to the weight of it and all,
i'm fairly good with the timing of it all as i'm one who has a good internal "beat" as it were.
I'm encountering a few problems with my left wrist though,
while my right wrist rolls rather smoothly, my left wrist doesn't really want to and just kinda 'snaps' backwards and forewards, similar to the thumb of someone who is double jointed and snaps their thumb about for the amusement of others.
It gets rather annoying because it disrupts my swinging patterns and makes the poi swing very jerkily.
I can sorta stop if from happening if i tense up my wrist... but that just gets tiring and i'm pretty sure that's not what's meant to happen.
I was wondering if someone could possibly direct me towards, maybe some excersizes i could practice, or some stretches or something?
Any assistance would be appreciated...
Thanks for reading.

Not really sure. Just practice moving your wrist around?
By keeping it stiff do you mean spinning from your shoulder?

Posted: no, i mean tensing my my wrist and fingers and really forcing it to move smoothly.
i think this may be like, some sort of defect with my body...
i think the best answer is just to keep practicing and i'll learn to live with it

Posted: What happens if you go the other way and just let the poi move your hand? Try to control it subtly, then you do not need to force anything....

Posted: Shane, have you tried hip reels yet? I suggest doing so.
Your wrists shouldnt be stiff. Try playing with the movement in that, your wrists can bend a bit.
Is a good exercise for keeping plane.
How heavy are your poi?? My heads are about 150g.
