It'll be out on DVD in no time - whats the fuss about?!

Have only seen Saw 1. Watched it once, have yet to pluck up the courage to watch it again.
Really was quite shocked and appualed(?) by some of the content in it, but am fascinated with the limits that film makers keep pushing further and further out.

Apparently hostel is meant to be equally nasty. Its on my to see list, when I have enough courage!

Hostel starts out as so much of a cheap T & A movie, that I never could watch it long enough for anything else to really happen...

My son did say that it finally got into the horror stuff and that it became an ok movie...

Saw II is definitely quite the cringe fest...won't say too much about it so that those of you who have not seen it will not have it spoiled...but is good for the surprise factor!!!

Saw III...We'll just have to wait and see...not seen it yet myself.

Don't feel bad...not really missing THAT much...

There are much better horror/suspense films to be found...

Try some oldies like 'Angel Heart'...or a lttle more recent 'Stir of Echoes'...or even the new version of 'The Omen.'

Something that will actually give you a good fright...not just a gross out!!!

Oh ....or try Mary Shelley's 'Frankenstein.'
.....or the Jack the Ripper flick with Johnny Depp as a detective called '...From Hell.'

smile

All are pretty good creepy flicks!!!

I remember going up to my mate's house and he was watching Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (pirate, it was still banned then). I don't mind admitting that I was actually quite alarmed when Leatherface cut through a door and began running towards his victim. Not like the other horror film baddies who stumble towards you slowly, this guy sprints at you, the chainsaw revving away!

I'm thirteen, I've seen Saw I and II. I honestly think that they were fantastic movies that through a dark and morbid perception, you start to appreciate the life you are given. Ofcourse it has it's cringe sequences, but thats a direct way to show the point.
I'll warn you adequatly and firmly... The clips I am going to send are the trailers to Saw III, but I warn you.. If you watch the last clip titled "Troy In Chains" I assure you that you will be disgusted. Now, as posted - https://www.ropeofsilicon.com/trailers.php?id=2975
But I warn you again. Do not watch the video if you have a weak stomach.
You can tell through the warning that this movie doesn't just sugarcoat the subject. It is through gore and blood this movie can truly just get to you, not just for money, but for moral values.
I find these movies very informative, but the process of persuassion is very up-foward and frank. Movies of the such can very much so destroy the minds of little children. Majority of the reason because their brain hasn't established a firm grasp on their beliefs, and may not even have begun thinking about future reference.
Through thick and thin, I rest to say that this is the darkest movie I have yet to see. Definitly not a very bright movie in such cases, but if you stick up the courage, I would say that this movie is fantastic.
Just remember, this is one morbid movie that will make your stomach squeel and hands attract over your eyes.

The only thing that we're saying is that the images that they have in these movies are horrible...they make an impression...one that doesn't help with the adolescent (and I mean no harm here whatsoever, please understand that) mind set...there is enough physical and emotional turmoil for you to go thru without the added images of such graphic violence and terror, etc

My personal feelings on this come from being a mother and a horror afficiondo myself...I'll let my kids see some of the movies...others...no freakin way...not till they get old enough to see them on their own...which in the US is 17 for theaters and 18 to rent or buy.

Oh..my son is 18..otherwise he wouldn't have seen Hostel!!!

i'm 25 and the scenes from Saw (and other horrors) are still in my brain and it's scary!

But in a fun scary way because I know it's not real. But those images are still in there, ready to pounce on me at any minute when I least expect it! eek

I would no way want to watch Saw if i was under 18 ( i will only watch scary films now if i'm watching it with other people and i'm not alone in the house!!)

In watching horrow movies?

Thats a bit of an odd statemant..
If you say that then what is the point in watching any movie?

A horror movie is exactly the same as any other movie, execpt the genre is different.

Movie makers get you involved in the storyline.

One of my lecturers at college learned me a good word the other day, but I've forgotten it..
It meant to be repelled by something horrible, yet drawn to it at the same time.
It had an 'a' and a 'b' in it and possily an 'l'...

The majority of people have this feeling towards blood/gore/suspense.
It's intriging.

And like I said before its all about pushing boundries.
The stuff we watch made 10/20 years ago seems pathetic compared to what we have now.
Imagen what the horror movies will be like in a further decade!.

Anyway.

Another kicking film with an awesome story line and twist is Se7en cool

Why watch horror films?

People like to be scared, even from the youngest age, kids like creepy crawlies and monsters and things like that. As an adult those things don't scare you anymore so we need films like those below to get the adrenalin pumping and send chills down our spines. It's fun!

If you want real horrific films, heres a list -

Battle royal 1&2
Audition,
All the Japanese Ring films
Spiral
Ichi the killer
Irreversible (very very messed up film)
Switchblade Romance
The Eye

I don't know any truly horrifying films to have come out of hollywood recently. The Hills Have Eyes, hostel, all the appalling remakes of the texas chainsaw massacre, all these 'gore fests' are pants and not scary in the least. There is one exception and that is Saw, that film really made me cringe and thats a very difficult thing for any movie to do. Saw 2 was also very good, I shall definitely be seeing Saw 3 in the cinema, in the dark so its even scarier! smile

Aim high and you'll know your limits, aim low and you'll never know how high you could have climbed.
