TICKETS UPDATE 11th April 2006

==============================

TICKETS ARE NOW ONSALE!! bounce You can follow this link to the online Shop to make your purchase. If you buy a ticket with the forthcoming DVD you will get a £3 discount. Please note that the price of £25 will only be valid until the 13th June

Finally, we have a venue for play biggrin

Thanks for being so patient, the location for PLAY is now confirmed as being at Fordhall Farm, Market Drayton, Shropshire. TF9 3PS

The gates will be open from 10am Thursday 22nd June until 6pm Monday 26th June (yes that's FIVE days biggrin ) and will cost the princely sum of £25 in advance and £30 from two weeks prior to the festival. The tickets will be on sale from Sunday 2nd April right up until the event. The ticket price covers all facilities and events once onsite (bar, food & drink etc excluded of course) all workshops, the show(s), the childrens creche area etc etc etc

A beautiful organic farm set in the countryside (although 5 minutes from the town of Market Drayton) that will make for the most wonderful setting for this years (and hopefully many more) PLAY Festival.

(Please visit the Fordhall Farm website, they need to raise £600,000 by July 2006 to stop this beautiful fertile place from becoming yet another industrial development, if you can help their cause please do so hug )

It has great links to the M6 motorway via the A53 and for non car users we will post all info about the local transport situation asap. There isn't a train station that's particularly close but we will be laying on a PLAY Bus to make collections to/from the station as often as possible to help everyone out. There may be a very small charge for this (ie a quid or two) to cover the cost of the driver etc.

I will keep this post updated and of course keep your eyes on the PLAY Website and forum for the most up to date information.

If you could keep your questions in the PLAY Forum we'd much appreciate it as it will help us keep some control and ensure we answer as many as possible. It'll save Malcolms badwidth a little too.....

Hope to see you all there!

I was trying from the PLAY site... and now, Hmmm...... MORE weirdness. I can see from this 'quote' function that you are trying to steer me to soton-firespinning, but when I press the 'here' link, it actually opens another window with this same HoP thread on it?!?!?! I got some kinda crazeee crossed line situation happening???

hmmm....I just tested the download and didn't get any kind of Japenese thing....hmmm

I'll ask Sym if he can see anything dodgy in the site.

Can you give me a few more details please? Was it a new explorer window that opened with the spam in or was it part of the video? Did it happen during the download or while you were watching the video?

The link strugz is pointing you to is to HERE where you can download it from (you'll have to register I think). They're the lovely people from Southampton who not only helped us do great things at PLAY, have also done an awesome job of editing the PLAY DVD that's out in the next couple of weeks smile

Hey Dunc
When I try to download from the PLAY website I get a window that tells me some quicktime components are missing. That link takes me to a page of assorted components, but I don;t know which one is missing so I cancel. Then the download comes (slowly) But it will not play; just bounces about with the visual equivalent of white noise...

(is that is the sort of synaesthetic technical description you were after? wink

This being on OSX Tiger, Firefox and Quicktime 7.0.4

Quicktime may not be the best thing to use - try getting VLC player. The Play teaser is divx, and AFIK quicktime doesn't play it.

Also, you'd be best off option clicking the file to save it

Cheers mate. That was quick (time) haha

Now at the risk of derailing the thread slightly (or ahem... let me rephrase that.. facilitating more people seeing the teaser... biggrin)

Downloads automatically opening in Quicktime... is there a way to change the default (in Firefox?) so it goes to VLC Or Real or whatever?
Or even better can I save the clip onto my drive? I'm not using a mouse with the right click function..and I got used to that... what's that OSX keyboard equivalent again? I forgot it...

well, with OS X (and 9 and before...) ctrl click does a right click, but in safari and I think firefox option click is download target.

That is, press option then click on the link.

As for opening all avi files in VLC (or other), select the file, press apple + i and go to open with. change it to what tou want, then click change all...

That should do it.

As for the slow downloads - is this still a problem? the server is in the US, so that might be why - but I get quite a good download rate.
