I put in an order last night for a heap of electronics bits and bobs. So with a bit of luck, I'll soon have v0.3 working (less batteries, less weight, smaller size, accelerometers, programmable memory etc. etc.) - quite exciting stuff really smile

awww man.

Your hyperlights are already *really* nice. I fear if you make them any better, people would not be able to watch in case their brain collapsed.

Any ideas how much you will be charging for a set yet? smile

When I have this next version built (assuming it works - there are still a lot of unknowns) I will start to get some idea. I'd like to be able to compete with Aerotech price wise, and they sell for ~£60 per pair. I've no idea how feasable that is though... yet wink

Why not completely undercut them, and force them to come down to your prices. thus bringing down the price of aerotech stuff for all the jugglers and hippies alike bounce

According to their site, it's £65.. but looking at it now, that may only be for one!! My aim is to sell them for a small profit. I started this as a hobby really - just seeing other people playing with my toys at Falmouth was fun. The idea of lots of people spinning my stuff and loving it is quite exciting biggrin

...and as for not making juggling equipment, well time will tell. I see no reason why the technology that powers my HyperLight poi could not be transferred into staffs / batons / balls etc. wink

Have you considered using some sort of a binary inversion to create the complimenting colours of the spectrum, albeit with 2 LEDs?

What I mean is, if you think about it terms of Hex;
(using an 8 bit set for each colour)

A pure red tone would be #ff0000 255,0,0

The best colour (with the most contrast) would be #00ffff 0,255,255

As is the difference between black and white; #ffffff / #000000

All you'd need to do is be able to interpret the existing colour in 8 bit codes for each colour, and subtract the number you get from 255 to get the Exact opposite colour...

....just a thought...

Vixen: Nope. There will be a load of pre-programmed patterns that you can select from. There will also be a little program available so you can add your own, but I intend to make it very easy to use!

Xerxes: Some of the patterns I have flash alternate colours like that - looks pretty cool. The colours are actually 10bit though smile

That'll be priority #1 once I have the electronics part sorted. I think they ought to be pretty rugged though.. I reckon I'll probably produce a small batch first of all to a bunch of dedicated testers (I get the impression I'm not short of volunteers!) so they can get used and abused. That way, any really bad faults can be ironed out before they go mainstream smile
